Hi,
When I installed DisplayFusion 9.2.2 (wonderful software, by the way!), I seemed to lose the keyboard hooks in to programs I use.
One is PureText which pastes a text-only version of the clipboard on a Windows key - V
The other is a compiled AutoHotKeys program. It also listens for keystrokes.

Both would stop working at the same time. Restarting them, they would work for some minutes or hours then stop again.
Since I stopped DisplayFusion running , problem went away, so I figure it's the cause.

Saw something about Mouse hooks but not Keyboard. I have Microsoft IntelliType installed, in case it is significant.

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words! As far as I know, DisplayFusion doesn't use or intercept keyboard hooks intentionally, but I will check in with our devs to see if they can offer some insight here.

Thanks Keith for the quick response. Very impressed by what I've seen here at Binary Fortress. Probably, running PureText and AutoHotkeys is not standard user profile. Any tests your devs would like me to do, please let me know. Otherwise they can most easily download it from https://stevemiller.net/puretext/ and run it to see the effect. it's something i use every day.
I also noticed you guys have an equivalent (much more powerful) program ClipboardFusion.

I've checked in with the devs, and we do use keyboard hooks for the DisplayFusion Alt+Tab handler. It sounds like this could be an issue where DisplayFusion is running at a higher integrity than the other applications. If you exit the other applications, then run them as Administrator, do their keyboard hooks work again?

Hi Keith,

I can confirm that Alt-Tab stopped the other applications. Thanks for that.

So far, running them manually as Administrator has allowed them to continue working.

What is the way to automate this? Currently I have them as autostart. Can you fix DisplayFusion to not do this?

Thanks
Dave

Hi,

An update:

One of the two programs (PureText) still stopped working even with Administrator run

Also, Alt-Tab left the black "Alt-tab panel" on display after executing the change of Window.

Closing Puretext and restarting it (as admin again) solves both issues, for the time being.

Regards, Dave

We can't fix it from our end, no. The issue has to do with DisplayFusion running elevated, while the other apps are not. The only workarounds would be to run them as administrator, or disable the DisplayFusion Alt+Tab Handler (Settings > Alt+Tab).
