If Google Chrome is not running, the keyboard Web/Home key works correctly and starts the default browser.

If Google Chrome is running, the key does not start the browser. I suspect the key action is hooked by DisplayFusion and is not being propagated under this condition.

Have not seen this occur under any other conditions. Seems to be unique to Google Chrome being active.

Environment:
Win7 Pro 64bit all updates downloaded and applied
DisplayFusion Pro Ver 4.0.1

A follow-up, and a correction.

The app is Mozilla ThunderBird and not Google Chrome.

If Mozilla ThunderBird is not active or is minimized and showing in the system tray, the keyboard Web/Home key works correctly.

Environment includes Mozilla FireBird 14.0

Another follow-up.

Further testing indicates when the Mozilla ThunderBird window has focus, the keyboard Web/Home key does not work.

ThunderBird is a 32 bit app. Other 32 bit apps do not exhibit the problem.

Strange! If you exit DisplayFusion, does the Web/Home key work when Thunderbird has focus?

Keith,

I don't know what you mean by stop DF. I don't have the DF app open. DF is set to start on open so that it provides all the good stuff that I want.

I have 2 apps open when the problem shows. The first is Thunderbird. The second is WeatherLink. Both have DF application Window Location settings. If the ThunderBird window has focus, the key action apparently never percolates to the system to start Chrome. Set focus to either the desktop or WeatherLink, while ThunderBird window is still visible, and the key does work.

This makes me think that either ThunderBird has an application hook that is not percolating the keystroke, or that a global hook is somehow doing something only with the ThunderBird app. I looked for obvious signs of ThunderBird hooks and can't find any. Knowing that DF uses hooks and does application specific actions within those hooks, led me to post this problem in the DF forum.

Ah gotcha. You can test to see whether DisplayFusion is causing it by exiting it completely, so that it's not running at all. You can do this by right-clicking the tray icon, or the DisplayFusion taskbar and choosing Exit. I'm curious to find out whether it is indeed DisplayFusion causing the issue :)

Thanks!

Keith,

I must be too quick on the trigger. Had my nose in MS hooks for another product problem. Gotta stop the Ready, Fire, Aim stuff!!

Couldn't find Exit so I set Options Start with Windows OFF.

The problem must be ThunderBird is not passing the key entry to the system. DF loff leaves the problem unchanged.

Sorry,
Bruce
