DF ignored all attempts to set Window Location to open a particular app on the right-hand monitor.
I noticed that it did open on the right (as set in the shortcut's properties) if DF wasn't running and even if DF was running but then DF immediately zapped it to the left. It turned out this was because I had ticked "Launch Start Menu Shortcuts on current monitor" and I was launching it from the left-hand start menu.
So the question is: if a shortcut defines a window position, should DF still mess with it? I would say no - the exact position in the shortcut should take priority. Perhaps a monitor specified in DF's Window Location settings should override the shortcut but even that's dubious as it gives less exact control. IMHO, "Launch Start Menu Shortcuts on current monitor" should not override the shortcut window location.
I would also suggest that the "Launch Start Menu Shortcuts on current monitor" tickbox should appear on the Window Location settings tab rather than (or as well as) the Taskbar tab to help avoid this confusion. At the very least there should be some mention in the Help.
Thanks for the feedback Denis! We'll definitely investigate this further to see if the behaviour of that option should be changed.
Thanks!
