I'm a software architect and just bought a Dell U3818DW 37.5" Curved Ultrawide Monitor. I did not like using Dell's monitor management app so I came across DisplayFusion. Your software is great and has an amazing array of features but I felt it can be a bit overwhelming as all I want is to manage the display sub-areas (Monitor Configuration Splits).

I believe the market on Ultrawide monitors is expanding and looks like this would be a great opportunity for you to come up with a Windows 10 light version of your software targeted to Monitor Configuration with pre-defined split presets and easy to use.

Take a look at how easy and intuitive is to change "Monitor Profiles" from the Dell Monitor Management app, but even though the UI is pretty, it does not work well. Considering your clearly superior knowledge and experience in the area I believe you would have great success in this light version suggestion, as long as you come up with a great user experience on the user interface.

Maybe you could start with a lower selling price and basic window management features and later start adding extra functionality (e.g. Wallpapers, screensavers, etc..) as in-app purchases.

Once again, DisplayFusion is awesome!

Regards,
Eduardo

I support Eduardo's idea; I think BIG monitors are getting ever more popular and it might be worth your while thinking about how to support single big monitors more. I've got a 50" 4k TV working very nicely as a monitor in front of me and Display Fusion really makes that screen real-estate much more useble!

I'm not criticising DF at all, just saying a few extra features with monitors like that in mind and a few additional marketing messages about large single 4k TV monitors on the site might help you get some more sales!

Thanks for the feedback, guys, much appreciated! We are getting more and more incoming feedback regarding ultrawide monitors, so we're definitely taking note!

I support this Idea.

I see DF has both an business market and enthusiast market. You prices and packaging indicates that you understand this.

Edu001's idea for a "light" product, focusing on splits, makes sense for the business market. A streamlined interface would make DF less overwhelming. If you develop such an interface, it could be incorporated as an alternate interface to DF. Making the preset splits more upfront could be good. Adding some splits suited to large TVs would be good. Users might even contribute their favorites.

A lower price seems reasonable from a fairness perspective. As a business user you pricing seems fair. I do not know how much of a price drop would be necessary/appropriate. In app purchases seem complicated for you folks. It seems to me that an easy upgrade path to full DF would be adequate.

As I think about this a little bit more, the issue is the perceived complications, not so much the pricing. Perhaps a "Split only mode" profile with its own UI that hid the advance feature could be included in DF. The uses could unlock the advanced features at any time. This would allow you to stay with a single product. Ideally, the simplified profile would also mask right click options, etc.

I agree with Gez. I am in the same situation.
