Sorry if this has been posted or discussed before-

I have an issue with certain programs (Spotify, MusicBee, maybe others) where, if I try to maximize those programs on my main monitor (1440p resolution), it only shows the area of the application that would fit on my secondary monitor (1080p resolution); the rest of the window is invisible, but I can still interact with it. I have embedded a screenshot of the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

The screenshot isn't showing up, could you try attaching it again? Also, if you exit DisplayFusion, does this issue still occur?

Sorry about that. Attached.

The problem fixes itself right after I exit DisplayFusion

Ok, thanks, that's really strange! Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info as well?
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! I wasn't able to reproduce that here with the same monitor layout as yours. Could you backup your DisplayFusion settings (Settings > Options Export) and attach them as well?

Thanks! I still can't get this to happen, even with your settings :(

Maybe I'm missing a step? I'm just opening Spotify and maximizing it on the 1440p monitor (monitor 1).

I have narrowed it down to this setting:

Window Management -> Move newly opened application windows to the current monitor

While I had that setting enabled, Spotify would open on my secondary 1080p monitor, and I would have the invisible resolution issue. I just disabled the setting and it seems to have fixed the problem.

edit: Also, after enabling the setting again, the problem reemerges.

Ok, thanks for the heads up! We'll try that out here.

Hmm, it looks like the problem has started happening again, but I have not re-enabled the setting I mentioned previously.

When you open Spotify, does it open on one monitor and then move to the other one when you get this issue? Or does it open on that monitor right away?

Some behavior I have recently noticed:

If I start the application and it opens on my main monitor, I do not have the resolution problem. I can move it back and forth between the two monitors and use both the full 1440p (main monitor) and 1080p (secondary monitor) resolutions. However, if I close the application while it is on the secondary monitor, the next time I open it, it will flash briefly on the main monitor and quickly switch to the secondary monitor; after this, I consistently run into the invisible resolution issue as described before.

I hope this helps

Thanks Thomas! I'll try again with those steps and if we're able to reproduce it, we'll see if we can get it fixed up.

Still no luck. Are you using the desktop version of Spotify, or the Universal app (from the Windows Store)?
