I just got the latest beta.

I have outlook on my second monitor. When I minimize it, it minimizes to the tray; but now also shows it in the taskbar of my main monitor. In past versions this worked (it didnt show up on the main monitor's task bar while minimized to the tray). If i move it to my main monitor before minimizing it to the tray it correctly removes itself from the taskbar.

Firefox is doing the same thing as well. I am using an extension to make it minimize to the tray (Minimize To Tray).

Applications that minimize themselves to the tray are presenting a bit of an issue. :( I'll see what I can figure out, but I may release version 3.0.5 with this limitation and spend more time on the issue for the 3.1 release.

@kruzayn: Can you link me to the exact Firefox addon you're using to do this? I'd like to test it further. Thanks!

This is an old extension that I had to modify to make it keep working for newer versions. By saving the file and opening it with a zip program (in my case 7-zip), then modifying install.rdf changing one line:
2.0.0.*
to
5.0.0.*

I put mine well into the future knowing if there is an issue to remove it :)

I have attached the modified extension if you would like to use the one I have.

Just a note. If you have one window on your primary monitor and one on your 2nd monitor and minimize the one from the second monitor; it looks correct so only have 1 FF window up on the second monitor to test (or have both windows on the 2nd monitor).

I was just trying to reproduce this and both outlook 2007 and Firefox with the extension are working correctly. I cant remember the exact windows I had up when doing this the first time.

I will toy around with it again and see.

*EDIT*

Eureka! How I get this to break every time is if the window is on my second monitor and not minimized. I then click the taskbar item to minimize it. It will send it to the tray and also back to the primary window's taskbar.

kruzayn, is this on Windows 7 or XP? I'm curious, because the "sys tray" in Windows 7 isn't as accessble as XP and with W7s new taskbar buttons you may not have as much a need for the systray icon as before...

I've fixed Firefox minimizing to the system tray, and it should help many others as well. For some reason Outlook gets all crazy when it minimizes itself to the system tray... not sure why. :(
