I have 4 monitors, and I would like to customize the order in which the "Move to Previous" and "Move to Next" buttons operate. Windows doesn't seem to allow you to change the numbering of the monitors, and Display fusion seems to have overcome this to some extent, but my monitors are not all in a row. I have seen in some old threads that it may be possible to change the order using the registry, but I never saw the specific key. Is there any way to change this in v5?

You should be able to do this using the "General: Monitor Order" option in the Advanced Settings. More info on that setting can be found here: http://www.displayfusion.com/AdvancedSettings/#general-monitororder

Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions at all.

Thanks!

Thanks, I had missed the advanced settings all together.

So I finally got around to making the changes under advanced settings, and rebooted the computer, but they don't seem to have taken effect. Here is the layout of my 4 monitors:

Code

2
4 3 1

I am trying to use the top monitor(2) as a sort of parking area, and then be able to easily move windows between the 3 monitors along the bottom(4-3-1).

I set the monitor order to "4,3,1"
and Ignore Monitors to "2"

The effective order is "4,2,1,3" instead and it isn't skipping monitor 2. I also tried adding monitor 2 into the order by setting the order to "4,3,1,2" and leaving Ignore Monitors at "2". This just seemed to change the order to "4,2,3,1"

Am I missing something here?

Can you try leaving the monitor order blank, and then just put monitor 2 in the "Ignore Monitors" setting? After doing that, DisplayFusion should automatically use 4,3,1 as the monitor order. If not, please attach a copy of the info from the Settings > Troubleshooting tab and I'll do some testing here.

Thanks!

That still doesn't work. The order remains 4-2-3-1 even with the 2 listed as ignore.
I have attached the troubleshooting summary. Thanks

It will still show monitor 2 in the Monitor Order in the Troubleshooting info, but the Move to Next Monitor button shouldn't move any windows to that monitor. Are they still moving there when you use the button?

Yes they are moving in the 4-2-3-1 order, with monitor 2 set to ignore.

Ok, that's really strange. I've just tested it here again with the same setup as you (monitors 4, 3, 1 from left-to-right, with monitor 2 on top), and setting it to ignore 2 works like a champ.

Could you send me a screenshot of either the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration window, or the Windows Screen Resolution settings?

Thanks! I just had another look at the Troubleshooting info you posted, and noticed that you've got the Ignore Monitors Advanced Setting set to "2". Could you try removing the quotes, so that only the number 2 is in the setting, and make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces?

Thanks!

That was it!
I was misled by the instruction page that said:
Values:Comma separated list of monitor ID's (ex: "2, 4, 3, 1")

I also had quotes on the monitor order, which probably doesn't need quotes either.

Awesome, glad to hear it's working now! Good point about the quotes on the help page. I'm going to look into whether it's possible to have DisplayFusion automatically remove the quotes if they're entered in the Advanced Settings.

Thanks!

Does this ordering override also apply to monitor slices? For example, can I enter 1.1,1.2,1,3,etc? My issue is that 'next/prev to monitor' has to cycle through the top row of all monitors and the moves to the bottom row of all monitors. I prefer it to cycle through all slices of one monitor before doing the same on the next monitor.

Hello,

Yup it should work, you just need to enter a 0 instead of a decimal for the splits. For example, instead of 1.1, you would enter 101.

Hope that helps!
