I got a new desk and had to unplug all the cables and stuff, but even though everything went right back into the same ports, DisplayFusion switched what was considered Display 1 and Display 2.

Windows always detected my primary monitor as ID-2 and my TV as ID-1 (very annoying btw) but Display Fusion used to have it switched, the monitor was ID-1 and the TV had ID-2. I know this because I have a bunch of triggers for games that use "Move to selected monitor: #2" as an automatic function.

But after setting up my desk and plugging the cables back in, exactly where they always were, DisplayFusion now sees my TV as ID-1. It's now the same as how Windows detects it, but my triggers and my monitor profiles are now all switched around. Is there a way to have have DisplayFusion see my TV as ID-2 again so I don't have to manually configure all my Monitor Profiles and Triggers again?

Hello,

Those monitor ID's are chosen by Windows, so we aren't able to change them unfortunately.

That's strange DisplayFusion had them swapped, I've never seen that before. If it happens again, could you send me over a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks!

I'll keep an eye out, but it was like that since I initially got DisplayFusion a few months back, I think in November. It always had different IDs than in Windows until now. I changed my triggers and configurations and it's working right so it's all fine, if a bit confusing. It's arguably working better than before, because I used to get a black screen for a few seconds when switching monitor profile, now it's near seamless, so lucky accident I guess.

This happens to me too. I have a laptop connected to a docking station and every now and then, when I reconnect it to the dock, Windows will change the monitor IDs which messes up my DF monitor profiles.

Windows swapping ID's when docking/undocking isn't something we can prevent unfortunately.

Sorry!
