I don't know how or if this is even a DisplayFusion problem, or even if that is what has happened, but I think my monitor numbers have changed. The only place this is evident is my Desktop Icon Profiles now are reversed (1 on 2 and 2 on 1). I have 3 of these, and all are reversed, so I know it's not just an user error. How could that happen? I have not changed any hardware or drivers.

DisplayFusion can't cause the monitor IDs to change, but it is definitely possible that they've changed. I've seen it happen before :)

I would try a full reboot first, if you haven't already. If the monitor IDs remain the same, and the profiles are still backwards, I'd recommend arranging the desktop icons again and then re-saving the profiles.

Today, the icons reversed again. However, I just realized that this is not affecting anything else. I said the numbers changed, because I figured that was the cause, but this is not affecting what is primary or any other DF settings.

Were the icons reversed when you booted up? Or not until after you loaded the Desktop Icon Profile?

Ok, would you be able to do the following?
  • Fix and save the desktop icon profiles
  • Export your DF Settings (Settings > Options > Export)
  • Save a copy of the info from the DF Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Repeat steps 2 and 3 when they are messed up again and attach both sets of info here so that I can compare them

Thanks!

My machine crashed, I had to rebuild, when I imported my settings for DF, the monitor numbers are reversed again, but this time for (and only for) Triggers. I know for a fact that these numbers could not have been this way before (at least I know that my primary and secondary monitors have not changed).

Could you attach a copy of the backup file that you're importing?

Thanks! When I import them, I get the same results (first two are monitor 1, the rest are monitor 2). Can you try fixing them up, then make a new backup of the settings and send it to me?

I just had to replace both video cards in this system (lots of display issues). My primary and secondary monitors are the same number. In DF, the numbers for the Triggers are the same, first 2 are #1, all the rest are #2. However, I now see that the problem is that DisplayFusion is reversing what numbers it thinks my monitors are. DF says my primary monitor is #2 and my secondary monitor is #1 - in Windows Display Settings, those numbers are reversed. Do you still want that fixed backup? Not sure how that helps given that's its not the numbers in the Triggers that are changing, but how DF is enumerating my monitors.

Yeah, no need to worry about the backup file there. If you reboot your system, does that fix up the monitor numbers, or are they still mismatched between the Windows display settings and DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration?

Reboot does not fix it.

Could you download the tool below, and send a copy of the output it generates?
