Feels like DF loses my config every other month and i have to re-do it from scratch, this is one of those times.

first i saved this (just a quick alignment and split i made for this post)
http://puu.sh/lKk2u/d16e9e4df5.png

as Main.

i then created this
http://puu.sh/lKkip/2776845987.png

as Second.

I use Second for about 3 hours and then try to go back to Main and now everything is gone

I mean the world isn't ending but now i have to spend about an hour fixing my splits, window locations, and functions... again >_>

That's interesting! If you create both profiles, and then switch back to Main right away, does it work?

no, i get this error
An error has occurred while applying your new Monitor configuration.
Please check your settings and try again.
Error: Failed to call ApplySettingsWin7Mode:EnableMonitors.

also getting this error
An error has occurred while applying your new Monitor configuration.
Please check your settings and try again.
Error: Failed to call SetDisplayConfig. [HR: 31]

Tried going back to Main 4-5 times each time it got an error and went back to the previous setting then suddenly it worked and Main loaded.

Ok, that's really strange! What types of cables are you using to connect each monitor? Are any of them connected to a USB display adapter?

Theyre all connected via either Displayport or DVI directly into the graphics card/mobo

Ok, if you enable the "Use Classic Get/Set Functions" option in the Settings > Advanced Settings, then re-save the profiles, do they work any better?

That does seem to have fixed it.

Any reason this is not the default? could it cause any other problems down the line?

We had to switch to a new method in order to get monitor cloning to work. If you don't need to clone your monitors, you should be fine to use the classic method :)

I've had a similar issue, on a slightly smaller scale that involves cloned monitors so this fix likely won't work for me. I have a dual monitor set up, and occasionally switch it with a profile where my TV is cloned from my primary monitor, while disabling the second monitor. It seems whenever my computer turns off, display fusion forgets what the main monitor is, and none of my profiles work as intended and I have to do everything manually. Their numbered identities never change, but for some reason display fusion refused to work in this area. I'm using Windows 10, and the problems started after the most recent update.

I'm also using the Steam Edition if that makes any difference.

@Michael, could you try updating to the latest beta to see if that helps? We did make a couple of changes to the Monitor Configuration code for 8.0 beta 1. You can enable beta update checks on the Settings > Options tab, then click the "Check for Updates" button.

@Keith: It had no effect on my issue. It seems to me it must be recent changes that caused the issue, and it seems to be linked to the monitor identity numbers. When my TV is turned on, it automatically becomes the monitor with Identity #1, and the "Primary Monitor" is switched to Identity #2.

So Profile 1 is set to the following image
https://i.gyazo.com/7113a0df93bd62fda9788ae36b098854.png

And Profile 2 is set to this image
https://i.gyazo.com/d001d4d7b409a547df779fa30631cb2b.png

When I turn the TV on and Switch to Profile 2, everything is fine, but it refuses to switch back to Profile 1 and I have to set it up manually all over again.

This is what Profile 1 looks like when the TV is turned off, but it obviously doesn't recognize the profile which is fine, it should only recognize it when the TV is on.

So when either the computer or TV is turned off, Display Fusion is forgetting Profile 1 for some reason, and when I try to select it, it jumbles my monitors up, having it extend to the TV, or having just the TV turn on, or sometimes just the "Primary Monitor".

Ok, so are you trying to switch back to Main 1 while the TV is off (and not showing up in Monitor Config), or while the TV is still on (and still showing up in Monitor Config)?

I only switch Profiles while the TV is turned on, because the profiles wouldn't be recognized unless there were 3 display devices. For some reason it just forgets the profiles settings whenever any of the displays are turned off then back on (usually the TV).

Ok, I'm going to test with this setup at home next week and see if I can reproduce the same results. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I've had a chance to test it out.

Thanks!

Any luck in replicating the issue? None of the recent updates to the beta have solved the problem for me, and it continues to persist.

I take it there is still no apparent fix for this issue?

Hello,

We've made some changes to our monitor configuration code that should fix this up in our latest beta, as described here: https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/monitor-configuration-backend-completely-revamped-in-displayfusion-100-beta-18/?ID=b17dacd1-0611-48c1-a29c-3a3e5046812a

Please let me know if you run into any issues after updating.

Thanks!
