Hello
First I would like to say this program is so good. It give me so much more freedom with my multi monitor set up.

I have a game that doesn't lock my mouse to the game window, in windowed or full screen mode. I thought I would try the lock mouse function in DisplayFusion, but it doesn't work very well. When I turn the lock mouse on (pressing the shortcut keys I have set) it does sort of lock the mouse to the screen or window but the mouse will go out of the lock area for 1 to 2 seconds and then snap back in. This is a real big problem when playing a fast pass game, because once the mouse has moved out of the locked area and a mouse button is pressed the game minimizes.

Is there anyway to fix this?

It definitely shouldn't take that long for the mouse hooks to kick in and keep the mouse on the monitor. Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
  • Open the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the Copy to Clipboard button
  • Open Notepad, paste the text, and save the file
  • Reply with the text file attached

Thanks! Everything looks ok there. Could you try updating to the latest beta and let me know if you can still reproduce this issue? If so, could you also tell me whether this only happens with certain games, or if it occurs in all games?

Sorry to say the Beta didn't solve the problem. The problem happen even outside of games, like the windows file explorer and Firefox. It doesn't look like it matters what program I use. A bit later today I'll upload a video showing the problem.

I'm testing using the lock mouse to a window.

Here is a video showing the problem. Even though I am using the lock mouse to window the same problem happens when using lock to screen.

Thanks for the video! We'll do some more testing here to see if we can reproduce this issue, and we'll go from there :)

Ok, thanks! Could you send a full debug log for this? Here are the steps:
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks! I don't see anything fishy in the log at all :(

We just use a built-in Windows API function to lock/unlock the mouse cursor, so I'm wondering if it's an issue with that. Could you try this cursor locking application to see if it also has the same problem?

Thanks!

Thank you so much for your reply.
Yes I have been using Cursor Lock, but it only works if I set the settings to the below.

Poll Rate (ms): 10
Lock Region: Window Interior

I'm happy to use Cursor Lock but I thought we might try to find why this problem happen, encase someone else also runs into it.

I would like to thank you again for your time and help trying to work out this problem. If you need anymore info please don't hesitate to reply.

Ok, thanks for testing that! We can definitely still troubleshoot if you're interested. I just wanted to see if it was a generic problem, or a problem specific to DF :)

From the troubleshooting info, it looks like the DF application hooks aren't running. Can you check Task Manager > Processes to see if the "DisplayFusionHookApp.exe" processes are running?

Sorry to bump this from the graveyard, but I am having the same issue that the OP is having now that I am attempting to use the mouse lock feature for the first time. I recently installed Windows 10 and when I did, League of Legends doesn't want to keep my mouse cursor in the window in windowed mode anymore. So it literally makes it impossible to play that game.

I can't use cursorlock since league of legends uses an .exe after launching the main .exe so it's a bit of inception when it comes to creating a shortcut that works which is why I wanted to just use DF for this.

I've attached a screenshot of the Hook App that you asked of the OP prior if that helps.

If you could possibly find a way to set the polling rate of the cursor lock to be dynamically adjusted between 10ms-5000ms, that would solve all of this I believe. Right now from how it is acting, it seems to be refreshing at a polling rate of 1000-1500ms which is how long it is taking for the mouse to snap back into the window after going outside of it.

I've had a chance to look into this further, and we're not using hooks or polling, we're actually just using a built-in Windows API function to lock the mouse cursor: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms648383(v=vs.85).aspx

I'm not sure if there are any adjustments we can make to improve it, but I'll test this out with LoL and put it on our list to investigate.

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

I just wanted to let you know that this isn't just with LoL, but it's with ALL windows that you try to enable this for. IE, Firefox, The Display Fusion Settings window, everything allows the mouse to escape the window for roughly 1-1.5 seconds.

Oh, interesting! Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info? I'll do some testing on a setup with a similar configuration to yours if possible.
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

On Monday we released a new DisplayFusion beta version (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and this should work better now. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!
