So i have 2 profiles i switch between frequently
On one profile i want the taskbar to be on the right side of monitor 3
On the other profile i want the taskbar on the left side of monitor 1

I asked about this maybe 2 years ago and i was wondering if it was ever explored to be possible or not or maybe it's still on the list.

Or if there may be a workaround with functions and whatnot

thanks

I've found 2 registry settings that affect the taskbar but I'm not sure what to do with them

The first one is
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects3
The Settings Data show on what screen the taskbar is on, what edge the taskbar is on, and it's size.

The second one is
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
The TaskbarSizeMove Data control whether the taskbar is locked or unlocked from what i can tell

Whenever i change any of these registry settings though i have to restart explorer for them to take effect though, and i'm not sure if there is a way to make it more seamless

For both profiles, is it only the Windows taskbar that you want to change the position for?

Ok, interesting! Killing/restarting explorer isn't really ideal for a supported feature, but I will put this on our list to see if there's another way that it can be done.

This is the exact thing I desire, has there been any traction on a way to do this? I keep 2 different monitors, a 144hz 16:9 and an ultradwide 21:9 and prefer to keep my taskbar on the opposite monitor of my default as I swap them with a hotkey (the sole reason I purchased DF) so while gaming or streaming in borderless windowed I can access the normal functions of my computer through my taskbar.

We haven't had a chance to try implementing something like this, but I will add your vote to the open feature request list.

Thanks!

Actually yes! We inadvertently implemented this when troubleshooting something else, and must have just missed the feature request for it!

You can do this now:

BFS.DisplayFusion.EnableTaskbarOnSide(1, "L");

or

BFS.DisplayFusion.EnableTaskbarOnSide(1, "R");

Hope that helps!

Is this only for the displayfusion taskbar? doesn't seem to work with the windows taskbar at all

assuming the above is the case, how do i set up the displayfusion taskbar to act as a single windows taskbar? i.e all items show in the same taskbar

Ah nuts, sorry. I misread that ticket and missed that it was for the Windows taskbar, not the DF taskbar. Sorry! Unfortunately I can't offer an ETA on if/when we'd be able to add scripting functions for moving the Windows taskbar, sorry.

Two years later and I jumped into function editing like a kid at christmas and JUST as I verify the function and test it, gmail indicated I had a new box of coal from DisplayFusion, We can't be the only 2 people who want this function.

For me persomally, if i could just switch out the windows taskbar for the dp taskbar i would be happy, but from what i can tell from the settings it only works as a multi-monitor taskbar? which doesnt suit my usecase

got it setup as best as i could but it was very inconsistent in its performance, i'm gonna stick with the default windows taskbar and hopefully we can get this problem fixed in the future =/
