I just found a snag in DF 3.1.8.102.
Not sure if it was introduced in this version or if .101 also had this.

Win7 X64 enterprise.
Triple monitor setup.
From left to right 3 - 1 - 2.
Main monitor is number 1.

I have created 3 hotkeys called
Move to monitor #1
Move to monitor #2
Move to monitor #3

Setup for the hotkey is attached.

Added buttons in the titlebar (attached).

So far so good.

The problem is this:

Activating "move to monitor 2" actually moves the window to monitor 3.
It makes no difference if this function is activated on monitor 1, 2 or 3.

The "move to next" and "move to previous" work as they should and will move the window to monitor 2 when instructed.
"Move to monitor #1" and "move to monitor #3" work as expected.

Can anyone verify this?
Or is this a problem only on my rig?

I tried to look for an existing thread before opening this one with no luck.

This will hopefully be fixed in the next couple of weeks, in time for Beta 5. Thanks! :)

Sorry this fix couldn't make it into Beta 5, I'm aiming for Beta 6 now. :)

Hi,

I'm having this same issue. I've gotten the new Beta 6 but the problem persists. Just wondering if you are aware or if there is maybe a problem on my end. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit by the way.

Thanks, I love the software by the way.. best $25 I've spent on software in a long time.

This still isn't fixed yet, sorry. The new target is Beta 8. I am working with Microsoft's MSDN support to try and resolve this, but sometimes things don't get resolved as quickly as I would hope. :)

No need to apologize, I'm just glad it's something you are aware of and trying to fix. I've never purchased software before with this level of support... just know that this kind of attention does not go unappreciated by your customers!

Thanks again.

Just the fact that your update this thread with the progress, or lack of such, and writing a few words on why it has been pushed back is definately worth the money spent on DF.

Thank you for your effort!

Could say a few words on why this happens in these latest betas while it worked correctly on earlier builds?
I am just curious from a technical standpoint.

I had to change the way DisplayFusion detects the monitor ID's, so that the ID's matched the Windows ID's. This now works perfectly everywhere except Windows 7. For some reason, Microsoft changed the ID behaviour in Windows 7 and didn't document it. I am still working with them to fix this for Windows 7, but so far I don't have anything positive to report. The reason it worked in older versions was pure luck. It never worked correctly on my machine, so it's just good luck that it used to work on yours. :)

Hi!

Not sure if you have resolved this problem, but I have some additional information.

win7 x64 Enterprise.
3 monitor setup.
Windows reports these as (from left to right) #3, #1, #2 (attachement)
But selecting a fullscreen window will display a number on the screen indicating the monitor number.
Here the sequence is #3, #1, #4 (#4 is attached for clarity)

I have noticed the same issue that Pocket describes above. My third monitor is actually being detected as monitor #4 by display fusion.

I figured I'd go in and set the button to move to monitor #4 and name the title button #3 to make it work, however the hotkey will not allow me to set monitor #4 as an option, it just resets to monitor #3.

If I could get hotkey to stick as monitor #4 i'm betting it would work albeit with an incorrect name situation if would work wonderfully.

Thought I'd just give you that info if you weren't already aware.

As always, we appreciate that you are on the case, and I'm prepared to wait until whenever you can get it working... the software is fantastic!

I have worked with Microsoft on this issue and the result is that it just isn't possible, and Microsoft won't give me the information required to duplicate the Windows display numbers. It's very frustrating for me, as you can imagine. To mitigate this issue, I am re-designing the "Move to Monitor #X" editor to show a picture of your monitor layout, instead of just letting you enter a number. This isn't perfect, but it should reduce confusion.

There is nothing wrong with that... the functionality will be the same, thats all we need.

It's good news for me... looking forward to the update.

Once again, thanks so much for the follow up!

Excellent. :) After some thinking, I believe that using a diagram will ultimately end up being more friendly than just numbers. :)

I agree with mfp16 that functionality is key, not how it is implemented.

With that said I must say I think this is a great design decision!
In my opinion visual feedback is always better than plain text or numbers.

Thanks for your effort!
Looking forward to the update. :-)
Will this be part of beta9?
