I assume I am doing somethign incorrectly, but this is not working for me. I set up a keystroke and a title bar shortcut and neitehr are working.

I have a 2:1 split but sometime want the window in the middle.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
John

The Functions all respect the splits, so for that function the centre of the "monitor" is actually the centre of the split that the window is on.

You can maximize the window to the full screen by holding Shift when maximizing it. Does that work for you, or do you need it to be centred but not maximized?

Thanks!

Ah I see. The shift and maximize works to some extent, but it would be great to be able to center it and not maximize.

I see I can actually drag a program out of a split window and put it in the center manually, and then drag the side to make it bigger, but that takes a few moves.

I guess the "centered not maximized" would be hard to do because how would it know how large I want the window.

(Perhaps you could build in a "Center and make it the size John wants" shortcut? ;))

Thx.

Feature Request Votes: Exactly 1 ;)

Jokes aside, you can actually do this by creating a Custom Function.

  • Manually resize a window and centre it
  • On the Settings > Functions tab, click Custom Functions > Add Custom
  • Give it a name and a key combination
  • Drag the blue "target" icon and drop it on the window from step 1
  • Apply the settings and you should be good to go

Hope that helps!

Hey John,

Have you tried the scripted function "Center Window Ignoring Splits"?
https://www.displayfusion.com/ScriptedFunctions/View/?ID=d4f769ce-5abb-4926-b7d3-bf5cd6f5e990

In can quickly install it from DisplayFusion's settings: Function/Scripted Function/Download Scripted Function. Then assign a key combination and when pressed the first time, the window will be moved to the center. Pressing it again and the window will move back to its original position.

Thanks, but looks a little too complicated for me. The custom fuction is working fine at this point however.
