I've had a dual-screen setup since WinME days, using a MBSS screensaver called Galaxies 4.1a. While it was a major pain to set up in XP - it would not natively run multi-screen (in WinME or WinXP) meaning I had to find the INI file and set the screen dimensions that way - I found there is no INI in Win8.1, or any other editable file (or advanced setting in the program) to return to my dual-screen setup.

No problem, DisplayFusion should fix that, right? Well, yes and no :( as yes, Galaxies 4.1a certainly runs on both my screens but...it is centered on one side...rather than in the middle as in 1/2 the universe on one screen, 1/2 the universe on the other as XP did.

This creates the rather peculiar situation of galaxies swirling and zooming in-and-out on one side while the other side only shows a few straggling stars that incidentally follow the main action on the first screen.

While 4.1a has been around forever, and is not even supported by MBSS anymore, is there a way or an option I haven't yet found, to change the center point of a screensaver? Maybe fool DisplayFusion into thinking it has THREE screens and run the ss on two only? While setting up 4.1a in DisplayFusion, the preview screen shows the proper extended desktop - with a properly centered universe - but once the ss actually runs, it is centered on one side :(

I'll check this screen saver out as soon as I have a chance. Could you send me a download link for it?

Thanks!

The problematic ss-

Direct download-

4.1a price is $10 but after install the settings explain how to fully activate for free, and then asks for a freely-given $10. I love it so much I've paid for it anyways!

Thanks! I've had a chance to test this out here, and unfortunately this isn't something we can resolve from our end. The screen saver is correctly spanning both monitors, but it seems the developer has hard coded the location of the universe in the screen saver.

I'd recommend contacting them, letting them know how you've set it up with DisplayFusion, and maybe they can update it to centre the universe when spanned :)

One other note, I found a "WindowSize" value in the following registry location after applying the Settings for the Galaxy screen saver: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Special Effects\SPFX_Galaxy\General\Main

The value doesn't make sense to me, but maybe the developer of the screen saver can shed some more light on whether that would help with the setup on dual monitors :)

Thanks, Keith. I'm pretty sure I've already played around with this value to no avail but thanks again for taking a look. I'll get used to it; my personal view of the universe is skewed a little bit to the left anyways...
