Hi
I'm using DisplayFusion on one computer with 2 profiles.
I copied settings from user 1 to user 2.
But it seems the remote control (android) targets the first booted profile. Android is linked to profile 1, but if I boot on profile 2, the app will request a new code.
Can the remote setup be shared between accounts ? If not what would be the workaround ?
Thanks

I believe that the backup/restore settings doesn't include the security code for the Remote feature.

However, if you copy the value from "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion\RemoteControlSecurityCode" in the registry of one of the users, and import that for the other user (make sure to exit DF before updating the value), that should do the trick.

Hi Keith,

Thank you for your answer.
Though, each time I copy the value on the other user, it seems once I launch DP it gets overwritten.
Could you give it a try and tell me how it works for you ?
I have just copy/pasted the value, didn't import / export a .reg.

Ok, it may be that we forcefully re-generate it for different users. I will check in on that and let you know what I find out.

Thank you ! It really is a must for me as I bought DF solely in the purpose of remotely switching between monitor setups (2x2 monitors in different rooms).

Ok, I have some more info here. The code is encrypted using Windows' built-in encryption which uses different keys per-user, so it's not currently possible to make both users use the same code.

However, we're looking into adding an Advanced Setting to override it. The code would be stored in the registry unencrypted, but if you're ok with that, it will do what you're looking for :)

Hello,

Just wanted to follow-up and let you know that we've implemented this feature request in the latest beta version of DisplayFusion. You can download the latest beta version from the link below:

Hi.
So I can confirm the remote connection is now possible on both accounts.
Let's say I have account A (main one) and B.
Copied monitor settings from A to B.
Windows login to B. Remote DF connects under B, and lists monitor profiles. But if I trigger one, its not applied.

Have you tried this scenario with success ? This is what I'm willing to achieve.

Thanks

Can illustrate with a different scenario, which I think is the same issue :
Start screensaver through remote on A = works
Login to B, reconnect remote, start screensaver = doesn't work

I think I may know what's happening here. If you exit DisplayFusion in both users, then open DisplayFusion in User B first, then User A, do the remote functions only work for User B now?

For some reason I missed your answer sorry about that !

Yes absolutely, the first instance keeps controls no matter what until it's exited.
Sometimes after issuing commands to a non-responding instance (from another user), I can see when logging into the 'active' dp instance (the other user) notifications for those commands.
So they are just redirected to the wrong (the first launched) instance.

Ok yep, makes sense. The feature was never intended to be used on two different user accounts at a time. I will add this to our list to see if it's something we can resolve, but can't guarantee if/when that might be, unfortunately. If we do have an update for it in the future, we'll definitely let you know.

Thanks!

Much Thanks !
I'm wondering if something could be done using triggers :
- quit DP on desktop lock
- run on desktop unlock.
This could prevent having 2 instances ?

I had a go at that but didn't have any luck. We don't currently have scripting functions for enabling/disabling the Remote feature, but I'll add that to our list as well :)

Thanks!
