Hey guys,

Just a question here as I'm curious, where would your plans (mentioned in some older threads) stand in line for Nvidia surround support? Features such as separating the one large virtual monitor produced by surround into multiple segments of the specified or detected resolution for each segment and having them act completely as if it were an extended desktop.

I've been using DisplayFusion for a good while now and love it in extended desktop mode for 3 monitors. However due to flaws and oversights on Nvidia's part, you can't enable SLI and have a monitor plugged into anything but the first card. This is a problem when for example, you want to use two DisplayPort monitors and Nvidia only give you one on a single card with any offering (excluding Tesla/Quadro cards which for some reason are fine to have four DisplayPorts in addition to multi-monitor management software for them only). However, you can use all three monitors with SLI and with one or more plugged into the second card if you enable surround. My Windows experience is terrible with surround though compared to the ease and functionality DisplayFusion added to my extended desktop experience. It'd also be handy and timesaving to stay in surround instead of having to switch back to it for a game.

I understand it's a massive task and quite likely something planned for the (possibly very) distant future but I thought I might as well ask how prioritized this is :) People in my situation are no doubt in quite the minority but it's a frustrating situation for those who are. Apologies for the long-winded post.

Cheers,
Kent

No worries Kent :)

We're definitely still considering it, but you're correct in your assumption that it will be very difficult to implement. At any rate, I'll add your info to the feature request, and we'll definitely let you know if/when we make any progress on it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Keith, as I indeed suspected. DisplayFusion is fantastic, keep up the great work. I'm very disappointed in Nvidia that $1000 worth of cards can't run my third monitor to its full potential. Or up to $4000 if you went for the new Titans and you still wouldn't be able to.

Not yet, but we're currently in the early stages of adding support for Nvidia Surround/AMD Eyefinity. We'll definitely post an update when it's available.

Thanks!

Another DisplayFusion Fan who is looking forard to Surround Support.

I have 4 24" monitors and 1 30" (all for gaming, of course) and I use displayfusion to switch from the 1 30 as primary (for Single screen gaming) to the mulltiple monitors for widescreen gaming (NFS and Tomb Raider look awesome). I have to break SLI to switch back and forth, and I would love to click one single button to switch.

We've just released DisplayFusion 5.1 Beta 17, and it now includes support for splitting Nvidia Surround/AMD Eyefinity setups so that each monitor can have separate taskbars, wallpaper, etc.

After updating to the beta, you can configure the splits using the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration window.

If you get a chance to try it out, please let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

How do you put a seperate wallpaper on each monitor though?

I go to monitor configuration enable Auto split eyefinity and surround monitors then do I need to change the horizontal split?

since, if I change the horizontal split it moves my taskbar to the left and is annoying that it is not in the front.

Then if I do the horizontal split in the wallpaper images if I span a different image on each monitor it siitll wont put a different image.

You need to set the horizontal split, and then Apply the settings. If you don't want the split to affect the taskbar, you can disable the Taskbar checkbox in the Monitor Configuration window. After setting up the splits, you should be able to see your separate "virtual" monitors in the DisplayFusion Wallpaper window.

Please let me know if you still run into any trouble at all.

Thanks!

I've had issues with Surround. I have a 690 card, and running the config without the special bezel correction resolutions.

After loading a game, my center monitors taskbar is on top, where as the other two monitors have the taskbar at the bottom. I move the center monitors taskbar back to the bottom, play a game, and it reverts back to top again. Note: This also happens anytime the secure desktop UAC prompt appears.

The auto-split function doesn't work (or is not functional). Nothing happens when I check/uncheck it. I must use the manual horizontal split function.

Could you tell me what your current Nvidia Surround resolution is set to? If you could also do the following to help troubleshoot the taskbar position issue, that would be great.
  • Enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to Logging: Important Only) and click Apply
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue (please note the time so I'll know where to look in the log file)
  • Attach the %appdata%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file to this topic (can be found by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending me the log

Thanks!
