I'm a relatively new user, but loving DisplayFusion so far (version: 11 beta2).

The only issue that I'm having is that when I switch over to my triple-monitor setup, one of my displays is not "connecting". I have to manually right-click on the desktop, go to Display Settings, and then right-click the display and set it from "Disconnect this display" to "Extend Desktop to this display" in order for that display to turn on. Once I do that, my proper DisplayFusion profile is detected, windows all setup nicely, icons all move, wallpaper sets, etc. So it's working...with that one extra manual step.

I've attached the Troubleshooting export files.

----Details of my setup, if it helps----
I have 2 monitor configurations in total:
    (1) a dual-screen setup that I use as my main daily-driver, and
    (2) a triple-monitor setup that I use when I switch over to my racing simulator.
So I have a total of 5 different monitors connectd to my PC. I'll use Monitor# as the number Windows has assigned them and that is shown when you click on "Identify" in the System Display settings.

(1) Dual-Screen Setup: Monitor 3 & Monitor 5
--Monitor 3 is a 1080p, 60hz panel connected to my motherboards HDMI port; running on the intel iGPU
--Monitor 5 is a 1440p,144hz gsync panel running on my 3080TI / DisplayPort

(2) Triple-Screen Setup: Monitors 4, Monitor 2, Monitor 1
All 3 of these monitors are the same, 1440p panels running at 120hz
--Monitor 4 (left) - connected to 3080TI HDMI port
--Monitor 2 (center) - connected to 3080TI DisplayPort
**--Monitor 1 (right) - connected to 3080TI DisplayPort *** AND NOTE -- this is the one I have the error with. This is the one that doesn't reconnect / activate when I swap over to my triple-screen profile and I have to manually do it each time.

Aside from having to manually active Monitor 1, swapping back and forth between my main setup and my racing sim setup is amazing. Appreciate any help / tips / etc.
Thanks!

Are monitor 4, 2, & 1 all the same model?

Edit: Nevermind, looks like you said they are. Can you try setting the "Monitor ID Detection Mode Override" setting to "1" in the advanced settings, restart DisplayFusion, and then re-save your profiles and see if the issue persists?

Owen - thanks for the quick response. I set the Monitor ID override option to "1" under the advanced settings and restarted DisplayFusion, but it did not fix the issue for me.

I've uploaded a screenshot of the System->Display that results after switching to my triple monitor setup. As you can see, displays 4 & 2 come up fine...and displays 3 & 5 disconnect correctly...it's just that display #1 that is still showing up as "Disconnect this display" setting instead of being active / extended desktop like displays #4 & #2.

Let me know if there are any other settings I can test, or any logs I can generate to help investigate further.
Thanks!

Could you send me over another copy of your troubleshooting info right after you try to load that profile and it fails?

You can set that advanced setting back to default again as well

Thanks Owen. I reset that setting and rebooted. Then, I cleared the log and tried to move over to my triple-screen setup and experienced "the issue" (two of my monitors activated, monitors 4 & 2) but the third monitor did not (monitor 1). I then switched back to my double-screen setup and captured the log file and uploaded here. The only difference this time was that when I swapped back to my double-screen setup, for some reason my wallpaper background was blank and I had to also go and reload my local image file for that too (/shrug?).

Let me know if this L1 log is what you needed, or if you are looking for something else.
Thanks again.

Bumping this in case my response (with updated logs) wasn't seen. Thanks!

It seems this has something to do with those monitors being the exact same model, we've added some more logging into our next beta so we'll let you know once it's released.

Thanks!

We've released a new beta with some more logging. Could you send me over an updated log after you update? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks Owen - I've followed your steps and attached an updated L1 log for review. Approx timestamp should be around 6:40pm - 6:50pm, March 24th, 2024.

Here are the steps I took:
  • Installed Beta 3
  • Reset All Seetings to Defaults
  • Tweaked settings back to my liking
  • Recreated my 2 Monitor Configuration Profiles (see above): Doubles & Triples
  • Set Log to L1 for the test
  • Switched to Triples using Shift+Ctrl+Alt+2
  • Switched back to Doubles using Shift+Ctrl+Alt+1
  • Exported Log Files

First impressions...it *maybe* worked? It definitely took a big longer than normal to move over to my Triples, and for some reason, it left my main monitor (#3) on. I still can't tell if it was just taking a really long time (~2mins) to "finish" moving to triples or if it left the Monitor #3, but I hit the Ctrl+Shift+Alt+2 again and it appears to have eventually moved over to Triples successfully.

Then, I moved back to Doubles (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+1). Again, appeared to take a bit longer than expected. Issue was that the wallpaper didn't set (just a black screen), and it left Monitor #4 on for a long time again (~2min+)...so I hit the hot-key again (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+1) and then it appeared to finally turn off monitor #4 and set the wallpaper.

Ultimately, I got it to work, but definitely had to fiddle with it. I'm going to give it a few more days of testing and will report back. Let me know if anything stands out in the log that you want me to trouble-shoot & thanks!

Thanks for sending that over. Just to confirm, are the montiors in your double setup the exact same model?

No - my Doubles setup has two completely different monitors. It's my Triples setup that has 3 of the same. Using the display ID# from Windows:

Doubles:
- Monitor #3: BENQ (1080p, 60hz) on the iGPU **this is the monitor that won't wake back up now after that Windows Update / Intel driver installed.
- Monitor #5: Acer (1440p, 144hz) on DisplayPort from 3080TI -- primary display

Triples:
- Monitor #4: MSI 32" (1440p, 120hz) - left (3080TI HDMI port)
- Monitor #1: MSI 32" (1440p, 120hz) - center / primary display (3080TI DisplayPort)
- Monitor #2: MSI 32" (1440p, 120hz) - right (3080TI DisplayPort)

Okay interesting, we're going to take a look at the way DisplayFusion handles multiples of the same monitor and see if it helps here. We'll let you know when we have something further to test.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if this adds anything to the trouble-shooting on this one, but I noticed that when I view my monitors in the intel graphics command center vs. the Nvidia control panel / Windows Display Settings, that my monitors show up as different "ID numbers".

I've attached a screenshot showing the differences, but here's the summary:
intel's monitor numbers: 5,4,1,2,3
Nvidia & Window's montior numbers: 5,3,1,2,4
