I'm a long time ultramon/multi-monitor user. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and have tried to give the default Windows 7 taskbar a chance for a couple of months. After getting sick of forgetting that I have windows open, I'm going back to the older style taskbar.
I find that the old-style taskbar ("Taskbar buttons - Never combine", "Use small icons") looks absolutely hideous compared to Vista. So I've been playing around with the Windows settings and I found the only way to get a good contrast between the taskbar button text and button was to make the taskbar opaque with a dark black color. It still doesn't look nearly as good as Vista - but it's acceptable. Then I was about to install Ultramon but I decided to give DisplayFusion a try since I would have to pay for an upgrade to ultramon anyway.
The DisplayFusion taskbar on the second monitor doesn't match the Windows taskbar's appearance when the "Enable transparency" is unchecked. It was annoying enough for me to uninstall it and install the new version of ultramon which seemed to match the native taskbar fine. See the attached screenshots. Also, changing windows appearance settings while DisplayFusion was running had weird behavior. A dialog would pop up prompting me to run the DisplayFusion executable.
