I recently started using DisplayFusion and I noticed that when you open a program it goes opens on the monitor it was last used on. I have two monitors, and I frequently switch things around, so It can be an annoyance having to drag program from one monitor to the other. I was wondering if there's any way to open a program on the corresponding monitor taskbar. Say, I have Chrome on my primary monitor taskbar, to have it open on that monitor regardless of where it was earlier. Same thing if I open Firefox on my second monitor, I was to have it launch on that monitor. For the record, I use Windows 8 and StartIsBack.

Thanks for help of any kind.

The best way I found to do this, at least for myself, is to enable "Launch Start Menu shortcuts on current monitor".

But since this setting only applies to displayfusion task bars, I enabled "Show on all monitors" under Advanced Settings->Taskbar. Then I set the windows taskbar to auto-hide and dragged it to the side of the monitor.

To each his own, though.

We don't have a way to force programs launched on the Windows taskbar to launch on that monitor, but this workaround may work for you:
  • On the Settings > Window Location tab, click Add
  • In the Application box, enter *.*
  • Select "Use the current monitor"
  • Select "All Windows" from the "Window Location Mode" drop-down
  • Click OK, then OK again

The above steps create a Window Location rule that will move all new windows to whichever monitor your mouse cursor is currently on.

Hope that helps!
