With DF 5.1, trying to use the new mouse wheel scroll on unfocused windows, it does not work with Outlook 2013 on Windows 7.

(BTW the DF Discussion Search Results page should really have a top link back to the discussion page for when results aren't found, or a new post page, or both.)

Might be related to Scroll wndows not in focus - IE problems.

I've found if the window in focus is IE, nothing will background scroll. Also if there's no window in focus (click on desktop), Outlook doesn't background scroll.

@NetMage: Could you try adding a Compatibility rule for Outlook to use the alternate mouse scrolling method? Please let me know how that works out and we'll go from there.

Thanks!

@Marc J is correct - the other focused program is IE10.

With IE10 having focus, unfocused scrolling does not work in other applications, including Outlook.

With IE10 not having focus, unfocused scrolling works in IE10.

With other applications having focus, unfocused scrolling works in Outlook 2013 and other applications.

Adding a compatibility rule for Outlook did not change this.

Ok, thanks for confirming! I have this bug on our list with yours and Marc's info, so we'll be sure to let you know as soon as it's fixed up! I did notice one workaround, that selecting the tab, or address bar in IE then allows you to scroll other unfocused windows. Not really ideal, but might work in the meantime :)

That work around doesn't work in my IE10/Win7 Enterprise setup :)

Ah ok, I only tested it in Win 8 with IE11, figured it would work the same in Win 7/IE10, but guess not :(

Anyhow, this is on our list, so we'll be sure to post an update as soon as we're able to fix it up.

Thanks!

I just tested this in my Win7 Office2013 IE11 environment, and it is still not working. Adding a compatibility rule for alternate mouse scrolling did not help. I was trying to scroll the contents of the preview pane.

With IE11 having focus in a window, or in the address bar, Outlook will not scroll. Neither will Chrome.

Strange! This used to work. I've added it to our list again, and we'll be sure to let you know when we're able to fix it up (again) :)

Thanks!

My system has changed, I have Office 2016 with IE 11 on Windows 10 x64 now :)

The new version appears to work fine scrolling Outlook when IE 11 has focus, however.
