From time to time (usually when I boot my computer) my primary monitor's wallpaper will expand to my second monitor - against my displayfusion background settings.
An example how this looks is attached.

Primary Monitor: right side, 5120x1440
Secondary Monitor: left side, 3840x2160 portrait mode

Even after applying the background settings once more it would not correct the problem. It only gets solved temporarily by restarting my computer.

Do you have any suggestions?

It's likely that there's something funky in explorer.exe itself preventing the wallpaper from updating. If you kill explorer.exe and restart it, does that also allow you to apply it correctly in DF again?

Too bad I wasn't able to test your advice as the error hasn't ocured since then - I guess the erason for that error might have been cured by a windows update but I can't say for sure.

thanks anyway
