DF is causing my 8 core Win7x64sp1 system to slowdown/CPU spikes - DF uses 100% of one core.

The effect is intermittent- not continuous.

Is this a known issue? can I rollback to a prior release?

Thank you for your help with this!

Could you try rolling back to 3.4.1 Beta 9 to see if the problem still exists? You can download it here: http://www.binaryfortress.com/Files/DisplayFusionSetup-3.4.1-Beta9.exe

Thanks!

Actually, the problem had stopped on beta 10- it is very intermittent- lasts for >10m, then goes away.
I've rolled back to beta 9- no problems yet....

Ok, thanks! We've made some changes for Beta 11 that will hopefully fix it up. I'll post an update when it's available for download.

I've got the normal 3.4 version installed (not beta). I'm getting massive CPU spikes, 65% to 100% continuously - none stop.

It's preventing me from doing my work, as the mouse keeps laggy behind along with text being typed.

Highly annoying.

Truth is- I've had this problem before as well- but always intermittent- for periods of 10m or so, then stopping. I've got 8 cores, allowing me to function- but sluggish mouse as you say...

I've never had this problem before.

Its really quite disturbing that it can take up so much CPU usage, compared to memory usage it only uses around 17Mb.

And I'm using a crappy core 2 duo work computer.

Tells me that this program is poorly programmed, I have started to disable it on login. I will have to go back with using Ultramon.

3.4 did have some issues with high CPU usage that we've been working on in the 3.4.1 Betas, but it looks like another bug may have been introduced with changes in 3.4.1 Beta 10. We believe we've gotten them sorted out in Beta 11, so I'll post another update as soon as it's available for download.

Thanks!

I've downloaded and installed this morning- ran fine for about 3 hours and then just crashed with a debug window.
I've just restarted, ok again.

Ok, these kinds of issues are difficult to track down, but we're hoping we've got it sorted out with 3.4.1 Beta 12. Could you guys give it a try when you have a chance?

Thanks!

@Tipunch: do you have your wallpaper set to change at a certain interval?

Ok, and if you revert back to 3.4, do you still get the CPU spikes?

If i revert back to 3.4 i don't have cpu spike but i can't middle click on windows any more :'(
I will confirm this in couple hours, i can't retest now.

Edit : I can confirm there is no more CPU spike with 3.4.0 (release) but middle click on title bar works only with standard explorer windows and some applications now.

Ok, it might be tough to catch if it only lasts a few seconds at a time, but if you can, please send the Troubleshooting info, copied when the CPU usage is high. If you would prefer to email it, please send it to me at support@displayfusion.com.

Followed up via email as well, but figured I'd post an update here:

We've made some more performance/stability improvements in DisplayFusion 3.5 Beta 1, available at the link below:

Just wanted to let people know: I had v3.4.0, upgraded to v3.4.1 and noticed high CPU usage (~40%-50%). I upgraded to v3.5.0 Beta 1 and CPU usage is way down to ~5%-10%.

I just posted on a different topic and I saw this one more similar to my problem. I have had the same problem with 15-20 percent spikes and it makes file browsing and application responses measurable, forcing me to end the displayfusion process. Also, even if I have no window open on the second monitor, DF keeps running 3-6 percent cpu (I guess because of the tray, and background images).
I am running 3.5.0 b1 and I have seen the same problem on 3.4 versions.

I hope we can solve this, since I am running out of patience.

Hi guys,

We are continuing to work on the high CPU issues, and we're also going to be adding some new metrics and extra information to the debug logging for the next beta. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as it's available to try out.

Thanks!

DisplayFusion 3.5 Beta 2 is now available for download here: http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/

It will hopefully resolve any performance or stability issues, but if not, please do the following to help us troubleshoot it further:
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "Logging: All Lines"
  • In the Advanced Settings, enable the "General: Advanced Debug Logging" option (note that if you already had the options in steps #1 and #2 enabled, please disable them to see if the performance issues still exist. If they do, turn them back on and proceed to step #3)
  • During, or after the issue occurs, send me the info from the Troubleshooting tab, as well as the DisplayFusion.log file (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • You can turn off the options from steps #1 and #2 after sending the info in step #3.

Thanks!

Just wanted to follow-up and let you guys know that DisplayFusion 3.5 Beta 5 is available. If you get a chance to try it out could you let me know if you're still having performance issues?

If you are, please let me know if the CPU usage is high right after starting DisplayFusion, or if it creeps up over time. Also let me know if you're running WindowBlinds or Bins as well.

Thanks!
