Hi,

I just tried your newest version of DisplayFision and I noticed a bug concerning the movement of windows from one monitor to the other and moving windows on the same screen (left, right, etc.) when there is a "docked" application present.

I use the messenger application Digsby with can be docked to one side of the screen, just like ICQ. In my Multi-Monitor setup, Digsby is on the left edge of the right screen.

The point the issue boils down to is that DisplayFusion does not detect the width of this Digsby window correctly. All actions are carried out as if the docked app was twice as wide.

Examples:
1) When a window is sent to this this screen, it is automatically moved [dockedAppWidth]-Pixel to the right. Repeating this operation (send to next screen) will eventually move the window further and further off the screen to the right.

2) When a window on the same monitor as digsby is rearranged to the left half of the screen (Ctrl-Win-Left), there is a gap between Digsby and the window. THe gap has the same width as digsby. The Vista Sidebar on the right is correctly handled though.

Apart from that, I really like the application. The wallpaper stuff is not really important to me, but I think DisplayFusion can replace UltraMon, Windows 7 Shortcuts and eventually maybe also some screen splitting apps like MaxTo quite nicely.

Keep the good work up

Jo

Does this problem happen if you manually move the window the monitor with the docked application and click the "maximize" button? Or does the problem only occur when you use the DisplayFusion hotkeys?

This only happens when I use the DisplayFusion hotkeys.

"Windows 7 shortcuts", an app that does s.th. similar (fill left half, right half, top half, bottom half) works fine.
Manually maximizing also works fine.

What version of Windows are you using? It sounds like you are using Windows 7, but I just want to make sure.

No, I'm using Vista SP1.

The "WIndows 7 Shortcuts" is just a litte tool that provides the keyboard shortcuts for window resizing as provided natively by Win7. I deactivated it prior to testing the DisplayFusion shortcuts, though.

It should be fairly easy to reproduce the "docked app" setup. Does this issue not turn up on your system?

I just played around a little more and it turns out that the issue only occurs when digsby is docked on the left edge of the screen. I have not found another app that allows docking on the left. When I dock digsby (or another messenger) on the right, DisplayFusion handles it correctly.

Forgive me for replying to an old topic, but I am cleaning up the forum. This topic is being locked and archived because it applies to an older version of DisplayFusion. If you are using the latest version of DisplayFusion and would still like some assistance, please create a new topic and I'll be happy to help you out. Thanks! :)
