I am using a MSI Wind Netbook U100 with its resolution on 1024 X 600.
When I open the "desktop configuration window" I miss the buttons underneath, so I can not use the OK, CANCEL and APPLY buttons underneath. There is no way to adjust the desktop configuration window because it is a fixed size.
Can someone help me fixing this problem?
Also see printscreen of the problem:

For the time being, you can get rid of your taskbar temporarily, drab the window up as much as you can, and see if you can see the buttons. I am sure Jon will fix this ASAP.

You can try using some keyboard shortcuts to solve your problem:

alt+o is the shortcut for the Ok button
alt+a is the shortcut for the Apply button
alt+c is the shortcut for the Cancel button

Download and install Beta 4:

Then go into the Settings window, on the Wallpaper tab and enable "Use small wallpaper preview pane". Voila!

Hello again Jon. I installed the Beta 104 version and enabled the "Use small wallpaper preview pane". The preview pane is indeed a lot smaller and can be seen completely, but the buttons are gone also?
I miss the part that the picture underneath shows:

Maybe it is something simple?

When I downgrade/change version from 3.1.7 to version 3.0.6
I can see all of the window incuding the buttons I need, so I think change of format gave the problem and it should be simple to adjust in Beta?

It looks like the "Show small preview pane" setting isn't checked in this screenshot. After you check this off, you will need to close the Wallpaper window and re-open it.

Jon, May I suggest adding the option to the desktop wallpaper GUI? Like on the right, around the bottom right of the wallpaper previews, and of course making this option auto update in real-time will help tremendously with its use, as you can already tell.

Actually, I've been thinking I may get rid of the setting altogether and have the window auto-size. Look for that in the next beta. :)

Beta 5 is now out, and the automatic Wallpaper window sizing is now in. It should make netbook users very happy. :)

Very nice idea Jon, but alas, there is an issue. To test this out I started setting my resolution smaller and smaller, and at 1088x612 the buttons are cut off, however this is because of the window being forced smaller due to either windows or the DF code, VS it being cut off from being too low.

Matter of fact, even at 800x600 DF does not go to the smaller size featured in the last beta.

Are you opening the Wallpaper window from the low-resolution monitor? I have tested it down to 800x600 and it seems to work ok for me. The edges are a bit trimmed, but you don't lose the ok/cancel buttons on the bottom. Can you send a full-desktop screenshot of what the window looks like? Thanks!

I don't have my second monitor where I am staying now, so yes from the one with the small resolution.

Could you enable Debug logging, and attach your log? It should contain information about the wallpaper form sizing, and I'd like to see where it's failing. Thanks!

The value of 56px means it is trying to shrink it by 56px, that isn't the final size. :) If your monitor resolution was 800x600, shrinking it by 56px should be enough. I'll check this out further and let you know what I find. Thanks!

Hi Jon,
Tried Beta 106 and the "desktop configuration window" shows like a charm, see underneath first picture.
Thanks for that.
Now the "Settings" window is a bit to large for the 1024X600 resolution, see underneath, second.
Things getting better all the time, thank you for that.

I have re-worked the Settings window to fit an 800x600 monitor as well. You can find the changes in the upcoming Beta 7. Thanks!

I meant it is now designed to work on anything 800x600 and larger, sorry. :) It will work at 1024x600 perfectly.
