When I open a game in fullscreen that is a lower resolution than my native resolution it changes but it messes up the wallpaper and taskbar on my other monitor.
You should be able to fix this up by enabling the two options shown in the attached screenshot for the wallpaper. For the taskbar, make sure the "Allow taskbar reloading while full screen" option is enabled on the Settings > Taskbar tab.
