When restoring windows I'm getting some odd behavior. I have a dual split, with a window maximized in each split. (It's actually 2 monitors, each with a dual split, but the 2nd monitor doesn't display this issue). When I restore, one of the windows maximizes to cover the entire monitor. If I hit restore again then it properly maximizes into the split. I can actually toggle back and forth like this. Expected behavior should be that the windows just go back to where they were saved.
Also relating to this issue, if I have a 2nd virtual desktop in windows then restoring windows will also switch me to the 2nd desktop, so it actually cycles between 3 things, the split window maximized over the entire monitor, then the virtual desktop screen, and finally the split window maximized properly in the split. I can sit there and toggle between these 3 at will.
Could you send me over a video of the issue happening?
Thanks!
I think I resolved it, it seems that setting my splits to the same number was causing them to overlap by one pixel. When I offset for this the issue seemed to go away.
Could you send me over a video of the issue happening?
Thanks!
I spoke to soon, after a reboot the issue continues. Uploaded video, I'm only pressing the restore key combo over and over again. You can see it toggle that one window between maximizing in split (which is where it's saved in DF) and full monitor screen.
Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
Click the "Export Info to File" button
Reply with the file attached
Thanks!
Attached. I'm also seeing other weird behavior. I disabled the show monitor selector while dragging, and show monitor selector when dragging non-maximized windows to split monitors. But now it's difficult to get a window to maximize inside a split. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes when I pull a window to the top of a split, expecting it to maximize inside the split, it opens full monitor and even if I hit the maximize button is still opens full monitor, other times it seems to work.
It actually malfunctions like this even if I use a shortcut key to show monitor selector (which I use all the time on my other PC). Sometimes it won't move the window at all.
What's odd about that, is that with my other computer DF doesn't even allow me to full monitor a window unless I press the modifier key, and that's the way I would prefer it to function.
I've been using DF for years at work and have none of these issues so I'm not sure what's different.
Thanks for sending that over, I can't seem reproduce this on my end. Can you send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:
On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
Reply with the file attached
Disable debug logging after sending the log
For those snapping issues, could you send me over a screenshot of the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration window?
Thanks!
Enclosed debug file, issue noted at 7:03am 1/27/22 and then I do it several times.
Also getting another odd issue, in my right hand split in the video I sent, I'm using Windows Explorer maximized in there. Lately that explorer window has been crashing, but I don't see anything in Windows Event Viewer corresponding to that crash. It only happens if that Explorer window is in the split, if I take it out then it doesn't crash. I tried to capture it, but of course when I want it to crash it doesn't. I'll keep the logs on and try to capture it happening.
Thanks for sending that over, does this happen with any other windows, besides FireFox?
If you can capture that explorer crash in a log as well, we can take a look into it.
Thanks!
Yeah it seems to happen only with Firefox. I switched sides/splits for Windows Explorer and Firefox and Firefox still hogs the screen on every other restore.
I spoke too soon for my work setup, I tried it there and it seems to do the same thing there. I just never noticed it because I don't switch my screens around as much.
Thanks for confirming, I was able to reproduce this issue with FireFox on my end. I've added it to our list to look into, so we'll be sure to let you know if we have any news on it in the future.
