Hi All,

I am using DF for a long time. I have switched to 3840x1600 ultrawide monitor recently and had to play a bit with settings that I can still stream games by LAN network to my FHD TV. To achieve this I need to set no scaling in Customize your desktop image and position section of NVidia control panel. After that when scaling is off streaming in FHD works as expected and on my monitor small 1920x1080 desktop is visible with black stipes on the edges...and 1920x1080 resolution is used for streaming.

Then I realized that DF gives me possibility to define monitor profiles and I wanted to have two profiles:
1 - 3840x1600 @144Hz (Native)
2 - 1920x1080 @144Hz (For games streaming to my FHD TV)

I can create profiles in DF but it looks like scaling options are not takien into acount. When changing resolution using NVidia Control Panel it works fine but when using profiles in DF resolution is changed and I can see on the monitor small desktop with black stipes all around it (looks same like after usage of NV Control Panel) but when streaming it seems that desktop in size 3840x1600 is passed to streaming client (Moonlight) and it works differently than NV Control Panel resolution change option where desktop in size 1920x1080 is visible.

I have attached screenshots of the options as attachments.

An ideas why DF change of resolution works differently in comparison to NVidia Control Panel when it comes to scaling option set to "no scaling"?

In your Nvidia Settings, is your "Perform Scaling On:" set to GPU or Display?

Edit: Actually I was able to google translate it, it looks like it's set to GPU. If you set it to "Display", does it still work through Moonlight?

I have tested both settings with regards od which hardware scaling should be perfomed and it does not change anything - issue exists whatever I pick. The same is if I mark on unmark that option which says "Ovverride scaling mode set by games and programs.

It looks like that when changing resolution via Nvidia Control Panel scaling options are taken into account by Moonlight client and when changing by DisplayFusion Moonlight client does not recognize that scaling was applied.

The strange thing is that when changing resolution by NVCPL or DF the screen looks in the same way on my monitor and scaling is applied, only Moonlight client is affected and behaves differently for NVCPL and DF. I am using GeForce Experience on my PC as streaming host.

Additional observation is that when using DF monitor setting panel when I pick any other oprion regarding scaling and hit apply program returns to the first option from the list and does not remember my selection.

Could you download this test tool (https://www.binaryfortress.com/Data/Download/?DownloadID=495db9ad-a9fe-4bee-a23d-d9cf233a7b1b&Log=0) and grab two copies of the info, one when you have the scaling applied through DisplayFusion, and another when it's applied through Nvidia? You can just copy the info to a notepad file and send it over for each.

I have done testing and saved logs.

One is for situation when I change resolution using nVidia control panel and option "No Scaling" is set in the section "Adjust size and posiotion of desktop" in the nV CPL. File name contains "NVCPL".

Second is for situation when I change resolution using DF monitor configuration. with option "No scaling and centered" picked (and in the nV CPL configuration for scaling is the same as in the previous scenario). File name contains "DF".

Thanks for sending that over. Could you send me over a debug log as well? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue (try to change the scaling value in DisplayFusion) and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

I followed steps above. Debug file attached. Resolution change with "no scaling and centred" option set was applied on 21:38.

We've got a test build of DisplayFusion 11 Beta 1 that we're not quite ready to release to everyone through the auto-updater, but thought you might like to try out as it may resolve the issue you reported. This beta has some very big behind the scenes changes that will improve performance, speed up startup times, re-organizes the main settings window, and adds real time settings changes. We've done a lot of internal testing, but be prepared for a few bugs.

Please take a backup of your settings (Settings > Options > Export) before updating and store them outside of the default folder. If you need to roll back to 10.1.2, you can download it at https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/ and install it over top of the beta.

If you'd like to give it a try, you can download it here: https://www.binaryfortress.com/Data/Download/?Package=displayfusion&v11-test=1

I am out of my place for a while at the moment but I think that I may want to test this new 11 beta version of DF to check whether my issues were resolved in the new version. Thanks for support!
