running win 8.1
The screen saver never seems to engage, was wondering if having action desktop gadgets i.e. system monitor II is keeping the screen saver from ever starting.

Running the following command at an elevated command prompt should show you if there are any drivers or programs blocking the idle timer in Windows:

Select All
powercfg /requests
