Hi, I have just installed DF through Steam. I have one large Dell U38 monitor. I have split my screens into a vertical down the middle and the left side then slip horizontally as well. When I drag a window into any section, it doesn't snap, just sits there. If I then click the Maximise \option on the window, it expands to the size of the window, but the auto snap is not happening. Really frustrating me. Help! Thanks Andy

Could you try enabling the "Show monitor selector when dragging non-maximized windows to split monitors" option on the DisplayFusion Settings > Window Management tab and let me know if that makes any difference at all?
Thanks!

Hi I tried that, it seems to have helped. The only thing I've noticed is that if I am on window and I drag it to a new snap area, and then drag back - it doesn't snap back to the section I was in. It just floats, and then I have to maximise to get it to snap back. Is that the expected behaviour? Otherwise I think you have fixed it, so thank you!
Are you dragging it back to another split monitor section, or to a monitor that's not split?

Not particulary quickly, and it doesn't matter how many times I do it, it doesn't snap. But if I go to a different window on a differnt part of the screen and drag to that area then I see the 1.1 in bold and it will snap. So it's like it just doesn't recognise that particular window whatsoever, but it does recognise others. Kind of annoying but I'm finding ways to deal with it, but it's not a great UI experience.
Ok, thanks! When you say you're dragging it to the new area and then back, is that all in one motion, not releasing the mouse cursor in between?

No, releasing in between. Should I do a video and send it through?
A video would be amazing, just to make sure we're on the same page with reproducing the issue on our end. Thanks!

Hey Keith, here is the video, unfortunately it doesn't seem to pickup the 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 snapping visual cues your product shows on screen - not showing in the zoom, but hopefully you get the idea from my audio when the snapping is working.
Happy to do an actual zoom with you as well if that helps.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy, sorry for the delayed response! That video was very helpful and it gave me an idea. In the DisplayFusion Settings window on the Window Management tab can you try enabling the "Enable maximized window dragging between monitors" option, and also enable both child options as well? The important one here is the "Show selector when dragging non-max'd" option. Thanks!

:Hi, no luck. If anything it seems worse. At the moment, I'm not getting the 1.1, 1.2 snapping showing whatsoever. If I drag a window around it doesn't show or snap whatsoever. If I maximise the window is expands to the size of the display fusion config - eg I'm 1/2 and 1/2 at the moment and if I maximise the window it goes to 50%. But otherwise it's not doing anything and feels worse than what I had previously. Is the potentially a software clash issue. What is the process for a refund if this can't be resolved. I'm a bit over it at this point and would prefer to uninstall and get a refund unless there is a clear path forward.
Thanks
Andy

Still happy to do zoom btw, but also don't want to spend much more time trying to troubleshoot. I just need a product that works on my pc and give me some efficiency, at the moment I'm not getting any.
Thanks

Hi Keith, I turned it on and just did the moving of the windows and didn't get any snapping behaviour. Turned to log on a 1.25pm AEST. Log attached.

Thanks for sending over the log! It looks like the 32-bit app hook process isn't running, which would explain why it works sometimes, and not other times. There were some antivirus products that were quarantining the displayfusionapphook32.exe process on the update to 9.7. Can you check if it's showing up in the quarantine in your antivirus software and restore it?
After that, you'll want to enable the "Enable maximized window dragging between monitors" option on the Settings > Window Management tab, apply them, and restart DisplayFusion.
That should fix it up, but if not, please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi, I'm running TrendMicro. There aren't any quarantines showing. I added the file you mentioned to the exceptions list but no luck. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling via steam, no improvement. Is there anyother reason the hook32 would not be working?
Could be that it's just not starting for some reason. Does the "DisplayFusionHookApp32.exe" file exist in your "C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion" folder?
Do either of them show up in the list on the Details tab in Windows Task Manager?

Same problem on 5120 * 1440 ultra-wide monitor split into 3 virtual screens. Generally, window snapping does not work. But sometimes it works and I can't find any logic in it. Processes: DisplayFusion.exe, DisplayFusionHookApp32.exe, DisplayFusionHookApp64.exe. DisplayFusion trial version. Windows 10 x64 LTSC, version 1809

@nrw: Do you have the "Show monitor selector when dragging non-maximized windows to split monitors" option enabled on the DisplayFusion Settings > Window Management tab?

This has been bothering me too on my 5120x1440 monitor. I finally figured out snapping will work, if the settings window is open. The moment you close it (To the task bar) it stops working again.
Edit: Maybe not.. still craps out sometimes.

@nrw: So when you drag a window to another split, it's not showing the monitor selector overlay at all?

Same issue, no snap to edges with mouse or using win-left/right arrow. Win-up/down works correctly. Dual monitor (2x 1920x1080) with no splits. "show monitor selector when dragging non-maximized windows to split monitors" was tried to no avail. Running 9.7.1 (beta4).
@RobWin: Does that happen when you try to use Win + Left/Right on a non-primary monitor, or on the primary monitor as well?

There is th4e same behaviour with win-left/right arrows on both primary and seconard monitors.
If you set the Taskbar Mode option on the DisplayFusion Settings taskbar to "Windows taskbar shows all, DisplayFusion shows relevant," does that make any difference at all?

The behaviour is identical.
Do you have these options enabled in Windows Settings > System > Multitasking? (see attached screenshot)

Thanks Keith, this fixed it! And thank you Microsoft for changing the switch and making me look silly.
Excellent, glad to hear it!
