Hello

I'd like that the task list in the bottom left corner (of my second monitor, respectivly the second/right display part of my splitted 34" display) shows only the date but not the time.

How do I do that?

Reason:
I'd like to keep my task list as slim as possible, so no two line (date and time) height. The time I already have shown in the Windows 10 task list in the first/left display part.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

Reto

Maybe even better would be to have the date and time on the same line.

Open Settings and click on Advanced Settings at the bottom of the window. Scroll down to the Tasbar section and you can customise your tray clock to your requirements. If you highlight one of the values and click on Blue writing at the bottom it will open a help page but the basics are Clock Size which widens the clock display area horizontally, Clock Text which allows you to display what you want for example mine is day, date, month and week number. Clock text colour in RGB and Clock Text size in pixels to make it bigger or smaller.

Hi Alan
Thank you for your quick answer.
I'm not quite there yet.

I want the time (hh:mm) and the date (dd.MM.yy) on two lines in the DP task bar.

My problems:
1) I don't get the dd.MM.yy date format
2) I don't get the second line for the date when I switch the windows task bar to small icons.

The pictures below should exlain what I mean.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Peter

Also, when I changed the clock text colour back to default, the colour is black so that you can't see the time & date at all.
I also restarted the computer. Didn^t work.

And in this case...
When I deleted all customized settings (as marked in the picture) the text colour came back to normal.
I don't understand why though, because the text colour was already on default.

Switching your taskbar icons to small will result in the clock just being on one line on your main taskbar, solution below for the DF taskbars

I cant answer that one, thats something for the devs. I have always used rgb even for white.

OK, to get two lines when using the small taskbar try this (it worked for me).
In your settings type in clock text type what you want i.e. hh:mm dd.MM.yy but add \n where you want the line break to be so it would look like this: hh:mm\ndd.MM.yy
If you cannot see both the time/date properly because of the taskbar size then in the advanced settings click on Clock Row Height Adjust and give that a minus number e.g. -3 and it will move the lines nearer together.

Dear Alan
Thank you for your time and effort.
Something is wrong. It looks like that my DP doesn't take the clock size & clock text parameter into account. I can't even make the changes you did (my language settings of the windows 10 system are in German though).
Have a look in the pics and please advise... once again.

Ok First off my appologies, those are the parameters for my system which are for a large font on a single line. The clock text size can be default (no value entered) or any you want, The clock size, which you have set at 300 is the width on the taskbar, usually set when the day/date dosnt fit in the normal allocated space so to explain that, because I have a clock text size of 26 I need the extra width. The Clock Text per taskbar and the clock display dont match proberly because ddd dd MM is english for day date month and the v[w01] is for vecka (week number). My system is in Swedish but seems to recognise the English format, your system may well be a different format for the day/date.
To check this, open your Windows Settings, click on Time and Language then on Date and Time. In that window you should see a blue link named Change date and time formats, click on that and you will see what formats your PC uses. The \n switch, I will try to look up to see if it is different in German although as far as I thought, is an international switch.
Hope that helps.

Anoother issue...

I would like the move the time & date line closer together.
But the 'Clock Row Adjust (Taskbar #xy)' doesn't work.

Is there maybe a 'Clock Row Adjust (all taksbars)'?
Maybe it's the same issue as we had with the clock size, where the 'Clock Size (Taskbar #xy)' didn't work, but 'Clock Size (all taksbars)' did work?

I dont know of a global fix for that but try reducing the number, if its too high it wont work, or didnt on my system. Try -3 on just one of the taskbars and see if it makes a difference.

EDIT
Just tried your values on my system and -5 is too high a number. -3 worked well though on system size, i.e. no clock size entered. :)

As an after thought, how many monitors have you got? If you have two then dont enter any values for Taskbar #2 etc as it wont be recognised, just use Taskbar #1 for your settings. The settings are only for monitors using the DF taskbar not your main monitor.

Honestly, I believe there is a bug...
These individual taskbar settings (xy (Taskbar #xy), see in the picture below) don't work for my right DP taskbar of my splitted 34" monitor.
Please advise...

I did that, of course.
I also restarted the computer.
These parameters war not taken into account.
I believe there is a bug, at least when it comes to my setup.

Hi Wade
Thankyou for looking into this once more.
I'm glad to hear that I'm not 'so stupid'. A pity for the time I spent on this though.
Would be nice to get a patch on this bug soon. Please keep me informed.
Wish you a successful day.

Great & responsive support - thanks!

There is more than just one bug when using DP on a splitted screen.

When I switch in Windows to the bigger taskbar symbols, in order to get the right width and height for the time & date, I get symbols in different sizes in the taskbar...

Ah yep, the Advanced Settings were only designed for physical multi-monitor, not split monitors. It is still possible to set those for split monitors, but it has to be done in the registry.

Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion\Taskbars you'll see a subkey for each monitor ID. For split 1.2, the subkey would be 102.

So in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion\Taskbars\102, create the "ClockSize" value (String value) and then set it to the size you like.

Hope that helps!
