Slow DF alt-tab has been an issue for a decade. I would not use DF alt-tab, but, sadly, Microsoft is weak.

I noticed that when the tab-list displays all the previews fast, but draws an icon on each one, slow enough to see it happen.

The selected window does not open until those icons are drawn.

Solution:
1) Option to disable drawing them.
2) Allow the routine to be interrupted

Thanks.

Is it slow to draw the icons every time, or is it intermittent? Mine draw instantly every time so I'm a bit stumped on why it would be slow on yours!

I will add a request for an advanced setting to disable the icons in alt+tab as well so that we can use that for troubleshooting.

It is intermittent.

Alt-tab display options could be a great feature for DF.
1) Text: Title/File/Path
2) Images Icon/Thumbnail sizes
3) Layout: List/Grid

Layout could also show the monitor layout diagram to see where they are.

But a simple toggle for Icons or anything that might be causing this would be great.

Ok, interesting! How often does it happen? And does it seem to happen only if there are a lot of windows open?

It happens when 3d graphics are running / high cpu usage.

Ok, that's good to know! I will do some further testing here. If we can reliably reproduce it then we should hopefully be able to fix it up as well. I have also added the feature request to our list for the option to disable the icons.

Thanks!

I've been using an autohotkey script to switch between specific windows... it always works instantly.

Hoping DF will add options to lighten the alt-tab process... it does seem that while the thumbnails load fast, the icon overlay is very slow.

This issue should be fixed up in the latest beta, available here:https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta. Please let me know if you still run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

Quite surprisingly, I found DisplayFusion's alt+tab is slower than the Windows' one, with Win 10 and DisplayFusion Pro 10.0. This happened repeatedly on reasonablly modern machines, both desktop (10th gen CPU, i9) and laptops (12th gen CPU, i7 or so).

For the Alt+Tab setting, on all machines, I was using "Show on Current Monitor Only, Show All Windows". The Alt+Tab menu seems to pop up consitantly slow however many monitors I have - be it one monitor with a laptop ( i7-1265U ), or a desktop machine many monitors.

We're working on an overhaul of the Alt+Tab handler that should speed it up. That'll be available in the next beta :)

Hi any update on this issue? My alt+tab is still slow when running game with high GPU usage.

@Teogai: Is that with DisplayFusion 11 Beta 5?
