Hi.

I updated to version 9.7 today - unfortunately, applying any monitor configuration then results in an error message - "Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow".

I did try resaving all monitor profiles, but sadly that didn't help.

My monitor profiles do each apply associated icon profiles, and the error does seem to happen "late" in the process - this might be relevant, or a red herring, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

"Downgrading" to 9.6.1 (the previous version I had installed) removes the error.

(I've attached copies of my saved registry settings and troubleshooting/debug info in case that's of assistance diagnosing the issue...)

I find DisplayFusion extremely useful - it's a great piece of software (I just wish I'd waited a week until the "sale" to buy the full version... :D)

It would be nice to keep my installation on the latest version, so any help with the "error" would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and please keep up your excellent work.

I am experiencing similar issues. How did you downgrade Jim? Did you just uninstall and install the older version or is there a dedicated workflow for it?

I didn't even uninstall - just ran the 9.6.1 installer (which I still had a copy of) over the 9.7 installation because I'm lazy (and have regular system backups to fall back on if I screw up). The installer didn't complain about installing over a later version or ask for it to be uninstalled, so I trusted it and let it do its thing.

Might not be the recommended approach, but seems to have worked ok - version reports 9.6.1 and the error is gone, everything working as prior to the 9.7 upgrade.

If you don't have a copy of the 9.6.1 installer, this link (fished out of my FireFox download history) seems to still work:
https://binaryfortressdownloads.com/Download/BFSFiles/101/DisplayFusionSetup-9.6.1c.exe

One more note - the 9.7 upgrade, I think, saved my settings in:
"%userprofile%\Documents\DisplayFusion Backups"
- but if you are going to go the uninstall/reinstall route you might want to make sure you have a working settings backup (Settings-Options-Export Settings) in case your settings don't survive (unless they are very simple and you don't mind recreating them).

@Jim: Would you be able to update to 9.7 again and send us a debug log for this issue?

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Ok, done.

Reinstalled 9.7, then, at 12:40 I changed monitor profile twice using "hot-keys" - both times the change triggered the error.

DisplayFusionDebugInfo.zip is attached.

(Error seems to appear around lines 1012, 1019, 1020, 1049 ... 1477, 1484, 1485, 1514 of debug.log)

I'm back to 9.6.1 for now, because the error message in 9.7 is... annoying, but I'm happy to do any further testing / provide any other info that might help to trace or "fix" the issue - please just ask.

Thanks for your help so far. :)

Just a quick update on this. We're going to put together a test build to get some more info for this. We'll post an update when it's ready.

Thanks!

Thanks. I'll look forward to the results. As I said I'd like to stay on the latest version, but this is preventing that at the moment.

Let me know when/if you need, or would like, any help, testing or input from me.

@Keith:

Just noting here that I received your email, installed the "test build" and replied via email with the debug info you requested.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thaks again for the help. :)
