Hello everyone,
I'm a long time DF user, and recently picked this up for use at the company I work at. However we have a specific thing we need resolved.
I'm wondering if it is possible to set a rule of sorts that force windows (such as opening a desktop folder, or double clicking on an image inside that folder) to appear on the active monitor only (or from the monitor which they were launched from)
This is somewhat a special scenario, but I hope there's a solution.
I only found two options, but niether of them completely satisfy our needs:
- Set a profile for applications to open on any one specific monitor
- Open applications via the task bar.
To reiterate on the issue, I need it to be dynamic so that desktop icon, or loading apps automatically open on the monitor where the cursor is, rather than open its previous location. I also can't have a task bar full of 25-30 different icons...
The scenario I'm dealing with is:
We have a central computer tucked inside a safe location with a remote touch screen monitor located about 30 feet away running from the same machine. We often have windows (such as a picture or folder) launched from the main station appearing on the remote monitor. Click the button at the top of the window switches it back all fine and dandy, however the operater sometimes needs to see images on the remote monitor. When he does this, the window opens on the monitor that we switched it to, rather than opening on the remote monitor where the focus is.
This is making it rather difficult to run remote monitors that still carry out the same functionality as a single monitor.
We have attempted duplicating the monitor screens to solve this, but since the remote monitor is used by a dedicated person and the main machine is often used by others to assist him, we found that the program used by the remote user is often minimized, or the view is blocked by other activity happening on the main machine.
I hope this makes sense.
If there's anyone with advanced knowledge of Display Fustion to help make this work, I would incredibly grateful!

Wow! That's amazing!
Everyone cheered and clapped when we tried it out here and the remote user has a smile on his face while someone else used the other monitor and didn't interrupt his work, and no one had to move from one monitor to the other to move windows around!
I'm so happy it was so simple!
Thank you very much Keith!
I'll be doing this at home now too because I often get confused which screen it's going to show up on haha.
Yay!!
