This is a great piece of software - I found it through the link you put on Lifehacker. Here are a few issues you might be interested in. I'm running four monitors on Vista with two ATI video cards (X550 & X1550). The first issue I've been having is that when I set the wallpaper (whether I use one wallpaper or four) one of the monitors has a black vertical bar running through the right quarter of the screen. The second issue is that when I try to drag and drop maximized windows it works fine in everything I've tested so far, except for MS Word and Excel (I didn't test the rest of Office). Any ideas?

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. For your wallpaper issue, can you take a screenshot of the windows display properties so I can see how your monitors are aligned with each other? Unfortunately I don't have 4 monitors (or even 3) so my testing was restricted to the limited abilities of VMware's multi-monitor support. I thought I had everything nailed down, but I guess not. :-) For the Office issues, I'm assuming your running Office 2007? I found this issue just after I released v1.1 and am still working on a fix. It seems that the Office 2007 windows don't behave like standard windows, probably because of the buttons they add to the title bar. For now though, you can use the Ctrl + Win + A hotkey to move the window to the next monitor and maximize it. Although, with 4 monitors the "next" monitor might not be the correct one in your case. I'll keep working on this issue though, and I will await your screenshot to fix the wallpaper issue.

Thanks!
Jon

I sent you a screenshot via email. You'll notice that I included the display properties dialog, as well as the DisplayFusion wallpaper dialog. Everything looks like it will work perfectly in the wallpaper dialog, but then, when I save the settings, I get that big block of black in the middle. (That is the right of the second monitor from left.) Please disregard the block of black at the top right - it's because the rightmost monitor is running at a much lower resolution.
Good luck getting four monitors - the only thing better is five. :-)
Yes, I'm running Office 2007. Ctrl+Win+A does, as you say work, and the order is the order my screens are numbered in the display properties window (in the screenshot).
Thanks for your dedication!

Sorry, but I don't seem to have an email from you. :-( I checked my spam filter, and still can't find it. Did you send it to jtackabury@binaryfortress.com?

Thanks!

Perfect - I received your email this time. Sorry, I'm not sure what happened the first time. I am working on getting my hands on a 4 monitor configuration now. I just want to make sure I understand your configuration perfectly: your primary monitor is the 3rd from the left, but your taskbar is on #2, which is 2nd from the left, correct? Monitor #2 is the one having the problem with the black bar down the right-hand side, correct?

Thanks!

I just want to warn you - if you get a 4 monitor configuration, you may have a lot of trouble going back to two monitors... :-)

You described my configuration perfectly.

As far as I can tell, it makes no difference to the wallpaper where the taskbar is.

Thanks,
Moshe

I think I worked all the bugs out, and I sent you an email last night with a link to a beta version of v1.2. Please let me know how it works out for you. :-)

Thanks!

As I just emailed you, it works perfectly, and the Office issue is also solved! Thanks so much for your efforts.

Moshe

P.S. Was I right about the four monitors?

:-)

Thanks again for all your help! I just officially posted v1.2, so make sure to snag the latest copy. :-) Unfortunately I never did get my hands on 4 monitors. :( I was restricted to testing it with some rather hackish code, but it seemed to get the job done. Perhaps it's for the best that I wasn't teased by the glory that 4 monitors would bring. :-D
