Hello. Just got DisplayFusion, and at first it's seems to work great. Did purchase a license, but after that, I got some issues.

I have 5 monitors, and before I installed DisplayFusion, and right after, when I opened Remote Desktop connection, they started on monitor 4.
But after a restart, I can't get RDC to start on monitor 4 any more. I'm using one taskbar for each monitor.
I have pinned RDC to the taskbar on monitor 4, it's the only place I have pinned RDC.
But when I try to open a RDC connection, I get RDC login page on my primary monitor, and then it open the RDC connection on monitor 2.

Why? It's actually worked fined without DisplayFusion, and it worked when I used the trial.

How can I get all RDC stuff just on monitor 4? I want the logon page, and that it actually starts in monitor 4.

I have tried changing Taskbar mode from All taskbars show relevant windows and Windows taskbar shows all windows...

Edit:
I'm using Windows 10 Pro 1703 (Creators Update)

Could you send me a debug log? It should tell me whether DisplayFusion is moving it, and why :)
  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L2: Log Detailed" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Hello. Here is my debug logs, it was around 16.26, but you can search for site2 in the log, then you can see when I opened the rdc link.
I did this test using Teamviewer on my computer, since I was not home, but the result is the same as if I was direct on the computer. The RDC window is still opening on the wrong monitor and not on the monitor there I have pinned (or actually made a shortcut, with Force monitor enabled on C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe)

Thanks! When you click the shortcut on the taskbar on monitor 4, are you just doing a single left-click, or right-clicking and choosing a pinned/recent connection from the jump list?

I have tried both ways. The most common way are to right click and pick from the list there. I have also moved some .rdc shortcuts to that monitor (desktop), but the same happens when I try to start them. I have also added a .rdc shortcut as an argument for the rdc shortcut on the taskbar...but still, no way that RDC start on the monitor I want. Now it starts randomly on monitor 1 - 2 and 3.

Interesting. When you just click the shortcut, does it launch the main connection window that lets you type in the computer name and click connect, or does it just automatically connect to the remote machine?

DisplayFusion should be able to move the main connection window, but likely can't force move the full screen remote session. Though Windows should take care of launching it on the monitor it was last closed on.

If I don't have saved the logon information, the logon dialog open on my primary monitor (monitor 1), then the remote desktop session window open on either monitor 1 (primary), monitor 2 or monitor 5.
But not ever on monitor 4, there I have RDC on my taskbar, there I have RDC shortcuts on my desktop, and there I have forced the program to start on that monitor.

On monitor 2 and monitor 5, I have not any RDC shortcuts on desktop or on my taskbar. Not on my primary monitor 1 either.

This actually worked like I wanted before I installed your software, and before I did buy the license. But after a reboot, it stopped working.

Ok, could you try this?
  • Exit DisplayFusion
  • Open an RDC session and move it to Monitor 4
  • Close the RDC session
  • Open the same RDC session again, does it open on Monitor 4?

Hello, it do not work like it did before anymore.
When shutting DisplayFusion down, RDC connections is always starting on monitor 2, never on monitor 1 or 3 like when DF is running.
Windows do not save the last position if I move the RDC connection to another monitor, and then exit, and then start it again, it always start on monitor 2.

Not sure what happened. But I have used 5 monitors for around three months, and always have some RDC connection open, since I'm using my own RDC at home + I'm always on several of my Windows servers around the world. And it worked perfectly before I installed DF.

Have not tried to uninstall, reboot, and then try my old setup within Windows. Maybe my next option? Regret that I spent 35 dollars on this license.

The uninstall and reboot is worth a try, but honestly, if DisplayFusion isn't running, it can't hook or affect other applications in any way. DisplayFusion doesn't do any system setting changes at all that would persist when it's not running either, so I'm really stumped here :(

Could you try one extra step from my previous steps to see if this helps?
  • Exit DisplayFusion
  • Open an RDC session
  • Make the RDC session windowed (not full screen)
  • Drag it to Monitor 4
  • Close the RDC session
  • Open the same RDC session again, does it open on Monitor 4?

Did try the last thing, but did not help.
Will try a uninstall, and see if I get the RDP connection to stay there I want it, and the reinstall DisplayFusion. If the same thing then happens, it must be DF.

Hello, I did then uninstall DisplayFusion, and my issue was solved right away. RDC do now open just on the monitor I want.
I then reinstalled DisplayFusion, and now it's working like I want again. But the same thing did happen last time also, in the beginning it workes like I want, then it stops.
But I will just wait to see if I get the issue one more time.

If DisplayFusion is not the issue, why did it then help to uninstalled it?

Honestly, I'm not sure at all! However, if you do run into it again, please let me know. If it does happen again, try to make a note about what DisplayFusion settings you changed right before the issue occurred again. Alternatively, if you backup your settings (Settings > Options > Export) now while it's working, then make a second backup of the settings if it breaks again, I can compare the two and see what changed.

Thanks!

Today my computer had restarted because of Windows updates, and then the setup was messed up again. On top of that my monitors shifted position, so there I have monitor 3 was now 5 and 2 and 4 had changed places also.
Tried to load my saved Monitor Configuration, but that did not help.
Rebooted my computer several times, and each time my monitors changed position. But after the 3 reboot, my monitors was back in position again.
Still, I had to change the setup in Windows under Display settings, change the position of my monitor there, so the mouse pointer could move between my monitors the correct way. Don't know why I could not do that in DisplayFusion?

So there are something off with DisplayFusion.

There's currently a bug with the Monitor Profiles where they can get overwritten with bad values in some cases. This will be fixed up for the next 9.0 Beta. We will let you know as soon as it's available to try out.

Thanks!

Hope you can fix this, for this is really bad.
Every time I reboot my computer, I have to use several minutes to configure my monitors again.
DisplayFusion change the position every reboot, and restoring the profiles do not help, since it change the position number of the monitors.
So after each reboot, I have to change wallpaper on all monitors, I have to change taskbar shortcuts and I have to change taskbar settings, like what monitor that should show system tray icons/clock.

Whats the point saving profiles, when it do not help to restore them, since the monitors has changed positions?

Ok, DisplayFusion 9.0 Beta 4 has been released. Could you try the following?
  • Update to 9.0 Beta 4
  • Delete and re-create the Monitor Profiles
  • Let us know if the Monitor Profiles still break after some time

Thanks!

I have tested your Beta 4 version for some time now, and it's seems to have fixed my issues.
Have had several reboots after I have installed the Beta and the strange monitor issue, has not happened again.
My Remote Desktops windows do now always start on the correct monitor.
But I have some CPU issues with the Beta version, it's using lots of CPU from time to time, and I have had to shutdown the program, and start it again.

Glad to hear it! (except for the CPU issue of course)

Do you have logging enabled on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab? I ran into some issues with high CPU usage but it was because I had L2 logging enabled.
