I am using HotDocs within Word using a dual-monitor Display Fusion setup. When a HotDocs function in Word is selected that would usually create a dialog window, it doesn't appear (it's apparently off to the side of the monitor's viewing area). When I exit from Display Fusion, the spawned dialogue window appears as normal.

Is there a way to combat this?

I'm using DF 4.3

Thank you,

Ben

Would you be able to help us troubleshoot this issue further by doing the following?
  • Enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to Logging: Important Only) and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue (please note the time so I'll know where to look in the log file)
  • Send me the %appdata%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file (can be found by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Also send a copy of the info from the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Disable debug logging after sending me the log
Thanks!

Here you go.

The activity was shortly after 8:35 am (within the first half of that minute certainly).

Thanks,

Thanks Ben! I can see in the log where it opened off the screen, as the window has X and Y values of -32000 (weird!), though according to the log, DisplayFusion isn't the one that's putting it in that location.

I did notice in the log that you're loading a Monitor Profile using DisplayFusion, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. If you leave DisplayFusion running, but set your monitor settings using the Windows Screen Resolution settings instead of loading the DisplayFusion Monitor Profile, does this issue still occur?

I changed the windows resolution around a bit with the native Windows tools and the issue still occurs. If I exit DF, the issue does not occur.

FYI...

Same behavior in DF 5.0.

Ok, interesting! Would you be able to provide some more detailed steps on how to reproduce the issue with HotDocs so that I can test it out here?

Thanks!

Just a quick follow-up to this. The latest DisplayFusion 5.1 Beta (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) has a new option on the Window Management tab for automatically moving child dialogs/modal windows to the same monitor as the parent application. Hopefully that will help you with the HotDocs issue :)

Thanks!
