I just downloaded displayfusion 6.0. It detects my version of start button (StartIsBack) and displays the Start button on both taskbars, but the start button on the secondary monitor's taskbar does not do anything. Clicking it is just like clicking a blank space on the taskbar. Any ideas? Can I get it so that StartIsBack works on both monitors?

It should definitely work with StartIsBack. If it still doesn't work after a reboot of your machine, could you send over a debug log?
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "Logging: Important Only"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Click the Start button on the DF taskbar a few times, note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Here you go.

I clicked a bunch of times at 9:53 and again at 9:54 (close to 9:55).

Thanks! If you move the mouse to the second monitor, and just press the Windows key on your keyboard, does it open the Start menu?

No, it still opens it on my primary monitor (even if I click somewhere on my secondary monitor).

Ok, strange! For some reason, DisplayFusion can't get the window handle for the Start menu. Which version of StartIsBack are you running?

Ok, would you be able to try updating to DisplayFusion 6.0.1 Beta 1 (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta), to see if maybe there's just something wonky with 6.0?

If that doesn't work, could you try 5.1.1 (http://www.binaryfortress.com/Files/DisplayFusion/DisplayFusionSetup-5.1.1.exe) as well?

Thanks!

Same thing happened with both versions. The icon appears on the secondary monitor but clicking it does nothing. It has the same effect as clicking a random empty spot on the taskbar.

Ok, I'm wondering if something in your StartIsBack settings might be part of the issue. Could you export the following registry key and attach it?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\StartIsBack

If you could also export your DisplayFusion Settings (Settings > Options tab) and attach them as well, that would be excellent :)

Thanks!

One more thing to try as well. Could you try enabling the "Taskbar: Invoke Start Menu using simulated click" option in the Settings > Advanced Settings window to see if that makes any difference?

That advanced options setting did the trick. Thanks!
