I'm aware there are some limitations with the start menu functionality but I'm hoping there's maybe a fix to the issue I'm running into.

The start menu on my second monitor (1080p/150%) sometimes opens in what is a badly scaled version but then closes again without being interactable. I can fix the issue temporarly by clicking the main monitor(4k/300%) start menu and then back to the DF one but eventually it breaks again.

I think the issue might have something to do with fullscreen applications and the start menu click on the main display.

Does it sound like a known issue and are there any known workarounds? I've done my best to see if its been answered already but couldnt find anything unfortunately.

Could you send me over a video of the issue?

Here's a gyazo link to my attempt at getting a video. It's really hard to show both monitors so this is just the offending one. https://gyazo.com/71493e1bdb0c0de44ef00e0dab12477e

If I try and open the 2nd taskbar start menu when a fullscreen application is open this is what will happen most of the time. It gets fixed by opening the start menu on the primary monitor then going back to the secondary but that's obviously impractical.

Thanks for sending that over, could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info as well? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

If you have your monitors set to the same scaling level (both 100% for example), does the issue persist after a sign out/back in?

Apologies if my responses are slow. I have some health issues that mean I don't always have the energy for troubleshooting. Here's the zip.

I tested what you said and can now also recreate the bug reliably. It seems to be related to the main monior scaling. Interestingly when I trigger the bug, if I then change the scaling back to 300%, it persists until the main start is opened, if I go back to 100% it goes away again without the click.

It could just be a hard limitation of the way the start menu works but if there were some workaround that would be great. I'd get by with a way to resolve the issue without being able to physically click the start menu. My core problem is my main monitor is also used as a normal TV so its often not on the PC input. I've tried using the secondary as the main instead but it creates so many more problems elsewhere.

Yeah interesting, we have to poll the start menu when it opens to grab it, so it always grabs the scaling value from the primary monitor. This causes some issues when it moves to a monitor with different scaling values.

I've added this to our list to look into, we'll let you know if we're able to get it fixed up in the future.

Thanks!
