Since upgrading to 5.1, "Start Screensaver" doesn't work either by right-clicking on a DF Taskbar --> Screensaver --> Start Screensaver or by a shortcut key.

In both cases the screensaver seemsto start, but the desktop immediately comes back, as if there's some user input before the screensaver "kicks in" proper.

If you haven't already, could you try restarting your machine to see if it works after a restart? I haven't been able to reproduce this issue here. If it persists after a reboot, could you do the following to help troubleshoot further?
  • Enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to Logging: Important Only) and click Apply
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue (please note the time so I'll know where to look in the log file)
  • Attach the %appdata%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file to this topic (can be found by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending me the log

Thanks!

Hi,

The problem persists after reboot. Log file is attached, I attempted to start screensaver by hotkey at 08:14.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,

Marc.

I went into (Display Fusion's) Screen Saver settings and the "Use Preview Mode for this screen saver" was unchecked. I checked it, and now it works as it should :)

I'm pretty sure this was checked before I upgraded (either that or it didn't need to be). Perhaps this setting was lost in the upgrade process?

Thinking about this a little more, this checkbox wasn't ticked in previous versions as I now have to click a mouse button to stop the screen saver, whereas before all it needed was movement.

So, something's changed between the previous version and 5.1 meaning this box must now be ticked?

Do you have it setup to span, or use a different screen saver on each monitor? Also, which screen saver do you use on each screen?

Thanks!

Ribbons screen saver set to span across both monitors - see attached. I've highlighted the setting that now, it seems, needs to be checked - although it was better when it didn't have to be so.

Thanks! We've confirmed the bug here, and we'll hopefully have it fixed up for the next beta :)
