Steps to reproduce:
  • Have DF Taskbar set to vertical orientation
  • Align Start button at bottom
  • In Start10 use either the "Modern Style" or "Windows 7 Style"

The resulting Start menu does not display in the correct position, but is shifted off screen. I cannot test this with the Windows Taskbar of course because there is no option to move the Start Button on the Windows Taskbar.

I believe this may have been the issue with this Discussions post from 2017.

Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks!

Here's a screenshot. The placement of the Start Menu is not consistent. Sometimes the menu appears way below the screen as is the case in the screenshot. Other times the menu hovers well above the lower left corner.

Thanks! We'll do some testing with your setup and see if we can reproduce this here. I'll keep you posted when we have more news.

Do you just have the one monitor? I'm only seeing one in the troubleshooting info.

If you have two monitors, could you send me a new copy of the troubleshooting info when both are connected?

I have a dock I connect with at work. I most often have two external monitors connected to the laptop. I'll try to get another log generated tomorrow at the office.

Thanks! We'll do some testing with the same setup as yours early next week and see what we can find out.

Quick update, I was able to reproduce this here and have added it to our list to see if we can fix it up.

Thanks!

You probably already know this... I hadn't played with the Scaling for a while but I just did and it is a factor.
Things to add:
    At 100% scaling
  • Clicking the start button shows the start menu off screen, and often causes the DF taskbar to reload.
  • Pressing the windows key shows the start menu in the correct
  • position
    At 150% scaling
  • Clicking the start button shows the start menu off screen, and perhaps less often causes the DF taskbar to reload.
  • Pressing the windows key does NOT show the start menu in the correct position... it is offset.

It sure is! Moving the Start10 menu is tricky and it's different with every monitor layout and scaling level :(
