Hi,
I use GoToMeeting for watching company webinar, unfortunately the screensaver kicks in.
I'm pretty sure it should be down to g2m to block the screen saver, but given that they don't is there a way I can detect that g2m is active and stop the screen saver kicking in.

Many thanks for any help you can offer

Best

On the Settings > Functions tab, there are functions for enabling/disabling the Screen Saver. You can assign a hotkey to those, and just run the hotkey to disable it, and the other hotkey to enable it. Would that work for you?

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the rapid reply. It would certainly work, but I was hoping there might be something a little more automatic.
I'll hassle the Citrix guys to see if I can persuade them to do the right thing!

All the best

Actually, there is a way to automate it in the latest 7.0 beta version, using Window Location and a Scripted Function. What's the name of the GoToMeeting executable?

Hi,

there seem to be two, g2mui.exe and the snappily named g2mvideoconference.exe

I know my the nomenclature that it might not be, but how stable is 7.0 beta, and can I become a beta tester?

We do our best to make sure the betas are stable enough for full time use :)

You can certainly be a beta tester! There aren't any special requirements, just enable the beta update checks on the Settings > Options tab, and you're good to go.

I've added a function to the repository for disabling the screen saver, waiting for a certain executable to exit, and then re-enabling it. This function works best when run from a Window Location rule. Here are the steps to set it up:
  • On the Settings > Functions tab, click the "Download Scripted" button
  • Double-click the "Automatically Disable/Re-enable Screen Saver" function in the list
  • Edit the path to the executable in the script to point to your desired program (note that backslashes are doubled because they have to be escaped in order to work properly)
  • Click OK to save the function
  • On the Settings > Window Location tab, setup a rule for that application, and have the rule run the function

I've attached a couple of screenshots for reference.

Hope that helps!

Hi Keith, I've just had the opportunity to stare blankly at the screen with a webinar running for a reasonably long time.
Just thought you would like to know that your solution works just fine. Not a hint of a screen saver kicking in.

Wonderufl stuff. Thank you.
