We are experiencing problems on any screen with the DF (DisplayFusion) taskbar. Intermittently when switching focus from one application to another on the DF taskbar screen only parts of the application visually come forward. Sometimes you can move the pointer over the missing parts of the focused application to bring it forward and sometimes you have to completely switch focus back and then on again to get it to come forward correctly.

When DF is closed this issue is gone. We are running Windows 7 Pro & Enterprise 64bit machines. It is happening on any machine I run DF on and it is happening with versions 7.3.4 and 8.0 beta. And it seems to be happening more with switching between Office 2016 applications and/or IE 11.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is an issue on some Windows 7 systems when global hooks are loaded. This is going to sound weird, but try installing this hotfix: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2643882. It says it's for a Streets and Trips issue, but other customers have installed it and it resolved the same issue that you're seeing :)

Hope that helps!

Won't let me install. Says "This update is not applicable to your computer."

Ok, that patch may have been rolled into a regular Windows Update then, so that's likely not the issue on your system :(

Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! I believe this issue is related to your system not having DWM Composition enabled.

One of these two solutions should resolve this issue for you:
  • Set the Windows theme to one of the Windows Aero themes in the Personalization control panel.
  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Taskbar tab, set the Window Preview Style drop-down to one of the "Previews Disabled" options.

Please let me know if you still run into any trouble at all.

Thanks!

The first one I cannot do because we have Aero Themes disabled in Group Policy primarily for better performance on our virtual machines.

But the second one, "Disabling Previews" has appeared to have fixed the issue.

Thanks!
