Original setup: Primary on HDMI, secondary on DVI.
New setup: Primary on DVI, secondary on HDMI.

I have two monitors. My secondary one failed. I bought a replacement, but it's such a nice IPS panel that I want it for my primary display. What's the best way to change that?

I have the Windows taskbar showing all icons on my primary display, and a DF taskbar showing only relevant icons (plus a couple icons I pinned).

What I have tried was using DF's Monitor Configuration pane to set the new monitor as "primary". This had the effect of moving the Windows taskbar to the new display, and a DF taskbar appears on the secondary display. However, the DF taskbar is not the same DF taskbar (my pinned apps are missing). It is behaving as if each monitor has a unique DF taskbar; if I revert the change, so the wrong display is primary, the DF taskbar shows all my pinned apps again.

How do I move an existing, customized DF taskbar from one monitor to another?

You'll need to edit the registry to change the monitor IDs that the taskbars are associated with, like so:
  • Exit DisplayFusion (important!)
  • In regedit, navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Binary Fortress Software\DisplayFusion\Taskbars
  • Right-click the new ID (e.g. 1) for the DisplayFusion taskbar and choose Rename, and rename it to something like 1_old
  • Right-click the old ID (e.g. 2) and rename it to 1
  • Start DisplayFusion

Hope that helps!

Yup, worked perfectly. As an aside, if I do a clean reinstall of Windows and reload DF preferences from backup, will that restore:
  • pinned taskbar icons
  • downloaded "Scripted functions" I've assigned to TitleBar Buttons

YES, it DID! You guys rock. I have another question, but it belongs in a new thread -- see you there. Thanks again.
