And again back to the same problem: *all* tray icons gone in latest 10.1.1 in Win 11 25941... but was working ok in the previous DF beta, that is not available to download anymore for downgrading. 🤦

Why?

They seem to be working fine here. Could you send me over an updated copy of your troubleshooting info?

It's pretty weird, I have the same build ( 25947 ) in 2 different machines now, but it happens in one machine only.

Also, the FxSound tray icon doesn't show up in neither.

Did you ever have StartAllBack installed on the machine that works fine?

We still have the tray icon on our list, but the taskbar icon should be showing up now.

Yes, I have the same StartAllBack installed on both machines, BUT it is disabled in both.

Yes, FxSound shows up now in the taskbar at least, but not in the tray area.

Yes, no problem at all in the Windows taskbar's tray area.

Could you create a new thread and send over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

I cannot "reproduce the issue". It doesn't happen at a certain point or step. Happens all the time, even with your recent 10.1.2 beta 1.
Tray icons in DF taskbars doesn't show up at all, only the perpetual Network and Audio combo, but none of the rest.

On the right is the Windows taskbar and tray area and on the left is the DF taskbar..

Here's the log.

And it keeps happening in build 25967.

It might have something to do with UAC being disabled. How did you fully disable it in Windows 11?

Using Winaero Tweaker:

But that shouldn't be it, because I also have it disabled in the other machine where the tray icons show up correctly...

Could you send me over a backup of your DisplayFusion Settings from that machine? You can grab them via the DisplayFusion Settings Window > Options > Export Settings.

It seems to work fine when I load it on my end. Could you try the following:

1. Download and run Process Explorer (run it as Administrator): https://download.sysinternals.com/files/ProcessExplorer.zip
2. Launch one of the apps that is not getting hooked
3. Select the process name for the app that's not getting hooked in Process Explorer
4. Press Ctrl + D, it should show the loaded DLLs in the bottom pane
5. Press Ctrl + A to save the info from Process Explorer
6. Reply with the Process Explorer output file attached

There goes 3 of them. But even DisplayFusion itself doesn't show up.

Thanks Jesus! Could you do those same steps for explorer.exe as well and send me the file?

Thanks! I don't see anything out of the ordinary there either. I'm pretty stumped on this unfortunately. I will leave it open for now to see if there's anything else I can figure out, but it's weird that it's only happening on this one machine :(

Ok, let's hope it gets fixed in the future.

Also, in the other machine where the systray icons do show up, clicling the SystemInformer icons do not bring up its window, like they did before:

SystemInformer is like an improved version of ProcessExplorer. https://github.com/winsiderss/systeminformer

I've just tried that out with System Informer on Windows 11 with DisplayFusion 10.1.2 and clicking the tray icon opens its little pop-up window for me. We're 0/2 on local repros for your issues in this thread so far :D

Could you create a new discussions topic for that issue and attach a debug log for it?

Thanks!

No, clicking the icons should open the full app window, like the Windows taskbar does:

For me on the Windows and DF taskbar both, a single click opens the small pop-up, double-click opens the full window. Do you have the "Single click tray icons" option enabled in the System Informer settings?

Yes, *and* double clicking the icons does not open the main window either... it does nothing at all, either single click or double click.

But other icons work ok, like HWinfo opening its windows.

Ok yep, I can reproduce that issue here as well and have added it to our list.

Thanks!

Now something even stranger happened.

The HWinfo systray icons show up in the DF taskbar... but they do not update.

This is the Windows main taskbar:

And this is the DF taskbar:
https://i.postimg.cc/B67ZSqz1/image.png

As you can see, *only* the HWinfo icons show up (none of the others do), and the tooltips work, but they show the wrong value. It's like they 'froze' at some point. Right click or double clicking on them does not work either.

That's really weird! I can't reproduce this issue either, but it's really strange that those tray icons even show up when none of the other ones do. Still have no idea what's going wrong here but will update this post if I come across anything.

Ok. If you can think of any test I could do to find more info about the problem let me know.

I was finally able to reproduce this issue here. If I disable the "Use enhanced classic taskbar" option on the Taskbar tab in StartAllBack, then reboot, the tray icons show up correctly. Can you check to see if you have that option enabled in StartAllBack? Even if StartAllBack is disabled, if that option is enabled, it's probably still loading some stuff into Explorer that's affecting this.
