i use the additional taskbar on the main display and all was fine with df 3.1.8.
all later versions show the problem seen in the second screenshot.

any ideas?

This was a necessary change to prevent DisplayFusion from being hidden behind certain application windows. Now, DisplayFusion will force itself to the top, which seems to go against what you are trying to do. :( I'm not sure how to work this out, as changing this behaviour will break the Taskbar for other people. Any suggestions are welcome. :)

thx for the fast answer.

i can understand the problem.

is it possible for DF to detect the the windows taskbar is trying to overlay the DF taskbar? then it would be possible that DF does not set itself in front again when the windows taskbar is performing the overlay but also getting in front again when another window gets in front

meanwhile i keep using DF 3-1-8

Take a look at Beta 1 when it comes out this weekend, it should take care of this issue for you. :)
