This is the Tips and tricks thread!!

Anything to do with multi-monitors can go in here, and of course anything to do with DF.

Quick FAQ:
Q: How do I make custom titlebar buttons?
A: First you create a custom hotkey, this will then show up in the TitleBar Buttons Add dialogue.
-
Q: Window snapping doesn't seem to work!!
A: Set the snap distance to 20-30 px. If you have 1920x1080 you will need something around 30-35px

---Functionality
First, a nice little trick for the primary taskbar!
Set up your monitors like the attached trick 1.jpg, and you have MUCH easier access to the system tray, no longer flying past it when you slam your mouse into the corner.

Hopefully this will prove useful for someone, I stumbled across this earlier today..

For vista:

Doesn't seem to be one for XP...

If anyone is wondering, like me, why a particular key combination doesn't work they'll find the answer on this page.

Strangely, I never knew that CTRL+SHIFT+N creates a new folder in explorer. Always bugged me that (I use the excellent Directory Opus on my main machine, but very useful for servers!).

Cheers,

Darren

--Aesthetic
A small aesthetic tip, setting the horizontal offset to 18px for titlebar buttons joins the titlebar buttons up just about perfectly with the windows ones like the picture tricks 2.jpg

Another tip is to disable the window minimize animations, as this helps alleviate the small aesthetic bug of monitors all minimizing to the primary taskbar. Could the original poster come and post it here?

Tip: If you have the second taskbar on a vertical orientation, setting it to 60px will almost perfectly match the windows taskbar in a similar position.
