Hi,
Loves display fusion, but I got one strange error.
I use remote desktop to my private computer from work, and when i come home and login in front of the computer, my second screen loses display fusions taskbar and also windows explorer hangs on my primary monitor.

After some time the second screen starts working as usual and after some more time the primary screen also stars working.
I have had this issue now since I purchased on steam.

Keep up on the good work!

Regards
Mats

How long does it take before everything starts working? There is a 10 second delay before the DisplayFusion taskbar reloads, that was added to prevent taskbar buttons from going missing while logging in after being on a Remote Desktop Session. Is the delay longer than 10 seconds on your machine?

Im not sure, but at least 10 minutes before anything is ok again.
I manage to register on your website and write down this discussion before anything was ok. Also before I created this thread I search around to see if someone else has the problem :-)

Can try and clock the process next time.

Oh yeah, 10 minutes is way too long, there's definitely an issue there :)

Could you do the following?
  • Enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to Logging: Important Only) and click Apply
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Next time the issue occurs, note the time so I'll know where to look in the log file
  • Attach the %appdata%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file to this topic (can be found by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending me the log

Thanks!

Will try and do it,

Here is an log of what i have done.

The same issue occur when i had activated the log, and exited Display fusion from the tray icon.
Windows explorer just hangs.
I forced down Displayfusion.exe DisplayfusionHoowAppWIN6032.exe and DisplayfusionHoowAppWIN6064.exe and also explorer.exe due to the fact that it wont come back from the hang.

When i tried to start Display fusion again, the same hang in windows explorer occur. :-(

Restarted explorer.exe.. again.. now it starts and Displayfusion comes back and working fine.

20:50 Started an remote desktop session from another computer.
Windows explorer hangs, and also i had some large black box over the screen.

around 20:54 Logged in from my desk. all hangs again.

20:55 After i had closed some applications (winword.exe and some other.), the windows explorer started to work again, and also Display fusion.

around 20:58 logged in from remote again.

21:01 Logged back from my desk. Everything is fine. ??? strange

Perhaps it was Microsoft Office Word that had hanged the hole process??

I zipped the log file.

Regards
Mats

We've hopefully gotten this fixed up in 5.1.1 Beta 6, but just in case, we've also added more info to the debug logs. Could you give Beta 6 a try, and if you run into this issue still, send over a new copy of the debug log?

Thanks!

Hi again,
I have now tried out the new beta, and it works well. but i have once more got the same problem.
After a couple of days with remote sessions (windows rdp) I came home and logged in front of the computer.
The time was then 2013-11-21 18:17 all works but explorer.exe hangs
I waited a couple of minutes (till 18:21) then pressed the startbar and got an message if I want to restart the process. Pressed yes and everything reloads and also works.

The error is not every time, but after a couple of days with the computer running i get this. I think it might be a process somewhere that has crashed and makes an conflict somehow.

I attach the log.

Thanks.

Hi,
no problem at all.
I can add some more interesting notes.

Yesterday it happen again, Explorer.exe froze and would not come back to life.
I waited a couple of minutes and then started to do other stuff. Ctrl+Tab works, so i could switch between windows that way.
Anyway, after a while, i noticed that display fusion started to work on my second screen. This might be the fix from latest beta. But on the first screen that got Explorer.exe's taskbar, it was still frozen.

When i closed down Chrome (and yes, i got a lot of tabs opened in Chrome. And also a lot of other Window apps. My machine has 32gb internal ram, so that i never have to close apps :-) )

Suddenly Explorer suddenly start working again. So that make me thinking. Perhaps there are to many windows opened on the same time or one or more chrome window app that has somehow crashed? I have not notice any application that has been working wrong or stopped responding. All I can say it started when installing display fusion (that i love :-) ) and when coming home after i have remote controlled my windows machine from work.

Don't know if it's interesting but at work I got an 1920x1080 screen and at home I only got 1600x1200, so the screen has to re-size when switching.

Keep up the good work!
Regards
Mats

Ok, that's interesting! I realize this will be a bit of a pain, but would you be able to try exiting all open windows before you leave your RDP session, so that when you log back into the console, it doesn't have to do anything with the taskbar buttons and whatnot?

Just curious if we can confirm that the issue is related to the number of open windows.

Thanks!
