Is it possible to "merge" two monitors and treat them as one?

I'd like to have one monitor in Landscape mode and two monitors in Portrait mode, and I'd like for DisplayFusion to treat the two Portrait monitors as one, specifically in these ways:

1. Have the Desktop background span both Monitors (I think I can do this now)
2. Maximize windows across both Portrait screens when a window is maximized from a position on either of them. So when a window is not maximized, if it's on the landscape monitor, it will maximize to fill it like normal; but if it's on either of the portrait monitors, it will maximize to fill both.
3. Have the taskbar span both portrait monitors.

Is this possible? Thanks!

#1 is indeed possible, please see these instructions: http://www.displayfusion.com/kb/wallpapercombining

#2 isn't possible via the normal maximizing, but you could create a custom Function on the Settings > Functions tab to make an application span both of the portrait monitors.

#3 isn't possible, unless you setup the two Portrait monitors as an Nvidia Surround (or AMD Eyefinity) display group via your video card's control panel.

Hope that helps!

Ok, I'll look into those, thanks!!

I'm curious if this functionality is something that other users have requested, and that DisplayFusion might consider implementing (in a more built-in, less brute-force form)?

It's been requested a few times, but only for games, which is impossible to do without Nvidia Surround or Eyefinity. I'm not sure what you mean by "less brute-force." Could you elaborate on that?
