Hello,

I have installed DisplayFusion Pro and have been playing around with settings to help resolve the issue with Windows 10 window positions switching to the primary monitor after unlocking the desktop. After locking the desktop and monitors go to sleep, I log back in, all my applications/windows are moved from the secondary monitor to the primary monitor and window size changes.

I have set 2 triggers:
1. Event: Timer Interval at 10 sec with Action: Run Function: Save Window Positions
2. Event Desktop Unlocked with Action: Run Function: Restore Window Positions From Last Save

I confirmed if I did the manual hotkeys for Save Window Positions and Restore Window Positions From Last Save, it works. But, not for the triggers time interval and unlocking the desktop.

It doesn't seem to work. Am I missing something? Anyone have any advice?

Thank you.

If you only run the Restore Function manually after unlocking, does it work? (to test if the save trigger is working)

It does not.

Even when I am on my desktop and wait 10-20 seconds and move some windows and do a manual restore, it does not work. So that means the time interval trigger to save window position every 10 seconds doesn't work. Thoughts?

Thank you.

Sounds like it, yeah. Can you attach a screenshot of the Save trigger rule?

Thanks! When you open the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration window, does it show "Detected Profile: Keep Last Window Position" in the top-left?

It was not, but, I just selected it and now it is showing Detected Profile. So the "Time Interval" function is working now. When I manually restore with the hot key, it goes back to the positions of last 10 seconds. However, the function to restore last save window position when "Desktop Unlocked", does not work and still moves all my windows to the primary monitor. I have attached screenshots of my settings.

Ok, getting closer! After unlocking the computer, is the monitor profile still showing as detected in the Monitor Configuration window?

Yes, the monitor profile still shows the detected profile after unlocking.

Can you try setting the Save trigger to use the "Desktop Locked" Trigger Event?

That seems to have worked! After unlocking my computer, a few seconds pass where the windows flash/move around, but, it looks like the windows do end up where it should be on the second monitor. Will be testing this for a few days to make sure it's consistent.

Is there a reason the other trigger with time interval didn't work?

Thanks!

The timer trigger can be finicky. If it fires for some reason when the windows are in the wrong spots, then they get saved with the wrong positions :)

Desktop Locked is more reliable if the computer locks, since it will save the positions when they're good.
